NHRA founder Wally Parks, 1913-2007

http://www.nhra.com/

Wally Parks, the driving force behind the formation of NHRA, has died at the age of 94. It was Parks’ vision, goals and unconditional commitment to the need for speed and side-by-side racing in a safer, more controlled environment that created what is today the world's largest motorsports governing body.

RIP Wally Parks. He gave people a safe outlet to do things in a controlled manner. Countless hours of enjoyment, and probably countless lives have been saved thanks to him!

We lost Bill France, and now Wally Parks. Sad to see the pioneers of motorsports pass on.

It's sad that these automotive legends are passing on into the automotive horizon.

On a lighter note, though.. the members of the Chevrolet Vega/Monza site I co-admin will LOVE this picture..
