You know, it's funny. If they can't run road courses well, why hasn't Marcos Ambrose even FINISHED well in NASCAR? Why doesn't Montoya win every road course race? Why don't the other road course ringers finish in the top 5?

The NASCAR guys would be competitive. Trust me.
Wrong? you named 5 drivers. Watch thier times when they switch cars. Yes there are a few like Gordon and Stewart. But the majority of them are pitiful at it compard to people who do it all the time. If you would like to see an example of a Nascar driver that at the time was winning (thogh I think he only medocre at best) take a lap at Daytona in a Kemans car look at Jr. He literally crashed and burned. Hell just watch them race. A true LeMans or road course driver would kill most of them.

The sad thing is it's all just opinions because we'll never get to see it done!

I think the same applies in reverse bar an except few who are so tallented they can drive just about anything

If this plan goes ahead chances are that you wont see any current NASCAR drivers in the field in the short term anyway

It's going to be 1 race out of a season not a full fledged series

It will hold curiosity value for most

And "our" steering wheel is on the correct side! There would be too many 'mashed' gearboxes if 'NASCAR-based guest' drivers were used for this 'one off' race.

The door-banging action of Australia’s popular V8 Supercar Series is the latest schedule addition to the Circuit of The Americas under construction in Austin, Texas.

V8 Supercars and Circuit of The Americas (COTA), along with Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Queensland Premier Anna Bligh, announced a five-year agreement Thursday to bring the globe-trotting series to Travis County beginning in 2013.

The G8 is the mixed martial arts champion that strolls around in dockers and a golf shirt because he knows how to fight and doesn't feel the need to impress anyone with a tough guy outfit."

It's official! Holden to return to US in 2013!!....

    well, in motorsport form anyway!

THE V8 Supercars Championship will make its debut on United States soil in 2013.

An announcement was made early today (Australian time) outlining a five-year deal for Australia’s premier racing series to compete at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

The new arrangement will make the United States the fifth offshore venue to host the V8 Supercars Championship in its history, joining New Zealand, China, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.

Whats the bet the Holdens will be rebadged as Chevy's when they race?
Seems a coincidence that the Zeta Chev's might be on sale there then!

Exactly what I was thinking. Makes perfect sense to me. Need to get a few nascar drivers to compete to help draw interest.

Even though I was never a fan of his he can certainly drive a car around a road course.

On the plus side, at least it is a proper race circuit and not another damn 'street race'.

I do wish they would drop Hamilton (NZ) and move the race weekend to Hampton Downs. Then I will bother to go along and watch.

Yeah, if they really want to establish a fanbase here (and who knows if they do? like you said,) they need to keep it going for a while. I doubt any NASCAR guys would give it a shot unless someone threw a lot of money at them or it kept around for a while. I hope they find a way to keep it going long enough to attract attention.

Wasn't Tony Stewart test driving V8 Supercars when he was in Australia an punched some track manager out? Or was that something else?
