AP
Kyle Busch is Joe Gibbs Racing's newest driver. The long-rumored deal that has Joe Gibbs Racing and drivers Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin and future teammate Kyle Busch leaving Chevy for Toyota has apparently come to fruition.
The Associated Press is reporting the deal is done.

Joe Gibbs Racing has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday and several published reports say the team will announce it has signed a deal to field Toyotas in the Nextel Cup series.
The reports, citing unidentified sources, said JGR will end its 16-year relationship with General Motors and give Toyota its first big name team in Cup

Whatever that means....

Let the record show at the NASCAR Hall of Fame to be located in Charlotte that Joe Gibbs was the first major owner to sellout to a Japanese company.

Well, is it? The point is this: I'm just making sure that there is no hypocrisy involved here. I'm just curious as to how many folks are going to give Toyota and anyone who supports them in NASCAR plenty of hell, yet have no problem when it comes to an American company involving itself in foreign markets.

I'll bite. Why is it wrong for GM to sell Buicks in Japan? Also, what does that have to with JGR switching to Tonka?

Re: Joe Gibbs switches to Toyota

The funny thing is that ONLY Joe Gibbs, Tony Stewart, and Denny Hamlin are going to be present at the news conference. My bet is, that yes, they are switching to Toyota, but Tony, will not stick around for it. He enjoys winning, and a Toyota is not going to do it for him. He was completely against Toyota comming to NASCAR in the first place.

Anyone ever listen to Bubba the Love Sponge on Sirius? Tony and him are close friends, and Tony has said on Bubba's show, that he would only drive for Chevy, or Dodge. (Dodge because of his Eldora racetrack, here in Ohio, which he still drives one there)

Don't count on Tony Stewart driving a Toyota.

Re: Joe Gibbs switches to Toyota

In defense of my fellow Hoosier, Tony Stewart, He didn't make the switch. Yes, I believe he will make the best of it, but if you follow his race track, USAC and World of Outlaw teams, which he owns and makes the money decisions (Joe Gibbs and his son make theirs), they are all powered and sponsored by CHEVROLET. But if the Toyotas don't do well next year, I can see Tony speaking up like his idol, AJFoyt, bad mouthing Toyota like AJ did in 2005 IndyCars. In fact, Foyt switched to CHEVY mid-season and got his first Top 10 right of the box.

No wonder we owe Japan a trillion dollars while we pay for their national defense. No one minds giving them our money, our kids' money, and their kids' money.

I'll have new-found respect for Tony Stewart if changes away from Toyota.

Re: Joe Gibbs switches to Toyota

I find it interesting and hypocritical for Joe Gibbs to say Junior can't drive for him with Bud as a sponsor, but Tony Stewart can do what he wants and he can change over to Toyota. TRAITOR. Maybe he should worry more about making the Redskins something over than a joke.
