He's back! Schumacher to replace Massa!

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/racing...ory?id=4363987

"ROME -- Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is making a comeback for Ferrari to replace injured driver Felipe Massa.

Ferrari said Wednesday in a statement that the German had agreed to get back in the cockpit until Massa is fit to return. The next race is the European Grand Prix on Aug. 21-23 in Valencia, Spain."

If nothing else, with Schumacher in the car the remaining races might see a good boost in ticket sales. The question will be... if he wins a few races (hard to see right now)... will he want to stay in the car and get his career wins mark to 100? The only points he would be racing for are manufacturer points and with Ferrari having such a bad year they may not worry about that so he can go all out for the win.

This will tell us a lot about the Ferrari cars themselves for sure.

Great to see him back - im a big fan of Schumacher. Very sad it had to be in these sad circumstances. I hope Massa has a speedy recovery and will be back in no time!

No it will not. Schumacher didn't test the car before, he doesn't have the knowledge and feal of the car as other drivers have, this could in fact be just the opposite:

He has no knowledge of the car but since he's one of the best driver in the world, even if the car is crappy he might surprise us with some really nice result.

A couple days old, but good news nevertheless (going along with the great news that Massa should make a full recovery). We'll see how quickly he can learn the new car!

This is the best news for F1 in a while. Watching Brawn vs. Red Bull for another x months would spell the death of the sport.

I just wonder if his neck muscles are strong enough to maintain pace for an entire race?

Given he is still a Ferrari advisor, and has shaped the performance of most of the F1 Ferraris leading up to this one, his shake down of the car IS a perfect
measurement of the design. My guess he has a great amount of knowledge pertaining to it, and, with the thousands of miles he has driven F1 cars, it will not take long for him to get the FEEL of this one.
