DEI- Ginn Racing Merger Complete!

http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head...ger/index.html

Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Ginn Racing have completed a merger that will bring four race teams under the DEI banner, beginning this week in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The official announcement is expected Thursday at Indianapolis.

The No. 01 Ginn Racing team of Mark Martin will join the three existing DEI teams of Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 8), Martin Truex Jr. (No. 1) and Paul Menard (No. 15). As part of the merger, the owner points from one of Ginn's teams -- either the Nos. 13 or 14 -- could go to Menard's car.
Ginn recently released Joe Nemechek from the No. 13 Chevrolet and Sterling Marlin from the No. 14. Menard's No. 15 Chevy currently is 39th in owner points, while the Nos. 13 and 14 are within the top 35 (34th and 30th, respectively) and thereby guaranteed starting spots in Nextel Cup races, as long as they remain in the top 35.

Because Bobby Ginn will be the owner of record of the Nos. 01 and 15 cars, the transfer of owner points will be seamless, and Menard will be locked into the field for Sunday's race at Indy.

DEI would acquire Ginn's shop and seven-post machine in Mooresville, N.C., and that DEI management would spearhead the transition. A seven-post machine simulates suspension dynamics and in theory saves actual test time on the track.

I guess they are trying to be a super team without super drivers.

It is most likely a great move for both companies. I hate it for Joe and Sterling.

Very true. Both Joe and Sterling are very good drivers that were just in need of some good cars. I wonder what Jr. is thinking about all of this? Maybe this: ? Only time will tell I guess.

Why would he think that? Jr is making the best move for him. His mother-in-law is a greedy bitch that won't let Sr's children to be part of the empire he created. If he can't get what he needs, he needs to be with the best possible choice- Hendrick. Even with these 2 companies merging, they still have nothing on Hendrick- especially now with Jr.

Re: DEI- Ginn Racing Merger Complete!

Jr did the right thing. I know he wants DEI to do well, but that is just not the right place for him. Having Mark Martin as a team mate for the next few months could be a good thing for Jr. I hope DEI and Jr both do well in the up comming years.

Agree 100% she is a greedy bitch Dale Sr. should have had a will made out.

Re: DEI- Ginn Racing Merger Complete!

Ginn racing dumped veteran driver Johnny Benson originally from Grand Rapids MI a few years back even though he won for them and had a year left on his contract. Jay Frye who ran the Ginn team and MB2 before Ginn bought it isnt the most professional guy in the nextel cup garage, although with the merger he might be in jeapoardy of being let go himself per Jayski (who just got married last weekend-- congrats) "Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s current management team will be responsible for all day-to- day activities and transition plans have already begun to develop. John Story, vice president of motorsports operations for DEI will oversee the expansion of the company's racing efforts."

Re: DEI- Ginn Racing Merger Complete!

I don't know in what part of the country a man leaving his assets to his wife qualifies her as a greedy bitch. Maybe Jr should go out an earn his keep the hard way just like SR did. What makes people think that SR, who was an accomplished and wealthy business person, simply over looked the fact that his wife got everything if he passed away? No one is entitled to thier parents fortune and if they get part of it it should be considered a gift.

Read up on "the official nascar sucks thread" here at GMI. Those that have responded before you and in the thread mentioned have pretty much kept up on the whole situation from the beginning. Have you ever been to DEI? There are more pictures of Teresa Earnhardt on the walls than anyone else. They should go ahead and change it to T.E.I.

You are right. I was under the impression that Ginn would still be pouring in money like before. With what looks like so far that Ginn will not be doing this, then I agree that Jr. made the best decision.

Still damaged goods, especially when Truex leaves after the 08 race season.

Ginn uses Henricks motors and chassis. Could one happen to end up in JR car?

Not after this weekend. They will all be RCR/DEI engines.
