Dale Jr Splitting From DEI!?!?!?
Huge news I first read about in the "NASCAR sucks" thread courtesy of GMI member redfox. Huge.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. expected to announce split from DEI By DAVID POOLE and JIM UTTER / The Charlotte Observer Dale Earnhardt Jr. is expected to announce Thursday that he will not drive next season for the NASCAR team founded by his late father, Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt Jr. has scheduled an 11 a.m. news conference at JR Motorsports. Earnhardt Jr. owns that Mooresville-based team, which fields a car in the NASCAR Busch Series. He currently drives the No. 8 Chevrolets for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in the Nextel Cup Series, but this is the final year of his contract with that team. Sources told The Charlotte Observer that the sport’s most popular driver will not announce Thursday where he will drive in 2008. The same sources also said reports that Earnhardt Jr. will announce that he and Martin Truex Jr. will move from DEI into Nextel Cup cars at JR Motorsports and use engines and chassis from Hendrick Motorsports are inaccurate. Instead, as of today Earnhardt Jr. would effectively become a racing free agent, able to sign with whatever team he believes offers him the best chance to win races and contend for championships.... continued at link: http://www.thatsracin.com/247/story/4129.html Last edited by 2648562 : 05-09-2007 at 09:09 PM. |

Wow...I'm speachless!! I bet the Intimidator is rolling in his grave....never meant for the family to split up. He's getting his engines from Hendrick, so at least they won't blow up.
I bet Theresa will give in, she's nothing without him.

I'm sure Childress will be able to put together a 4th full time car for him, the question is where Budweiser and the rights to the #8 will go.

Re: Dale Jr Splitting From DEI!?!?!?
He is going to run his own shop at JR Sports running Henrick Motors. Glad he is sticking with Chevy.
I read that on Yahoo. Who knows what is happening.

Re: Dale Jr Splitting From DEI!?!?!?
If he does go to RCR, I will be very excited to see him in the #3. That is actually what Nascar needs right now more than anything.
