Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

Not only do the Vette's look good...

Not only do the Vette's sound good...

Not only do the Vette's handle good...

Not only do the Vette's .... well... they are just all-around GOOD!

But - - - They look good in the winner's circle most definitely

Please
Please Please
GM give us those lines from the the c6r GT2.
How about a GT2 Corvette?
Just the fenders and rear quarter panels?

On a serious note
Chevrolet needs to get the rights to that clip to use in adverts.
It is a very powerful image to convey to sports car buyers. A Corvette defeating a "gasp" Ferrari on the track.
Tag line with out words as we fade to black.
"The Chevy won."

I was thrilled to see this happen, I've watched the Corvettes race for years, truly a world class car and a world class team.

Guys, you got to remember the corvette team is still dialing in the car. As in testing it for this series.
Next year, you bet they will dominate.
I was under the impression that the Ferrari was probably faster, handled somewhat better, but the corvette had a better driver and more power out of corners. There was not way the Horse would have gotten the corvette, given it would always be ahead out of corners.
I was getting worried though at the end that the Ferrari might pass, somehow, Corvettes need to improve on their top end speed, me think...
I heard the Speed TV guys saying that Corvette racing is going to work with Michelin to create a better tire for the GT2 car. The C6.R is running the same tire as last year. Except now the GT2 car is lighter than the GT1 car, with less HP.

The 2 BMW's have been dominate all year, And you can bet the Lizzard Boys will be back. Jorge Bergmiester is just too good.

I think allot of it came down to driver as well. Jamie Melo in the #62 Risi was driving the tail off that Ferrari. A new driver replaced him and could not handle Jan in the Corvette.

I'm just very happy that Corvette has gotten a win! I though it would be next year before they got a win. This in only the 3rd or 4th race for the GT2 Corvette!

And on top of this. I heard Saturday that Camaro will be coming to the Rolex Series. With Pontiac now no longer a valid entity, one of the Pontiac GT teams will be going to the Camaro next year, and will be working with Pratt & Miller. I think I heard that right during an interview Saturday during the Grand Am race on Speed.

Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

I was beginning to ownder if Johnny, Jan, Ollie and Olivier knew "racecraft". That has been anwsered. And Jan put pressure on the Ferrari as soon as the Ferrari took the lead.

This is great to see. Corvette will not win every race, but it is great to see them competing well against Porsche, Ferrari and BMW.

At the very end, the Speed TV folks were almost cheering the Ferrari on, they somehow thought the Vette would not hold them off...

Ehh, ths guys at Speed do a good job. If the Ferrari made that pass at the end they would be screaming, "Can the Ferrari hold him off?" They do a good job of covering the races, and keep them exciting. They always cheer for the car in 2nd!

Nice. Jan forced a mistake at 1:06.

Hmm, so Jan came from open-wheel. Interesting.

-Magnussen had a dominating 1994 British Formula 3 championship with Paul Stewart Racing, winning 14 of the 18 events and breaking Ayrton Senna's F3 record.
-He won six of the first eight races.
-His F1 debut was a one-off for McLaren, but he returned to the series full-time in 1997 and part of 1998.
-Debuting on 22 October 1995 in the Pacific Grand Prix in Aida, sitting in for the unwell Mika Häkkinen. He has actually only raced in 24 GPs, because his car was damaged in an accident during the start of the 1997 Brazilian GP causing Magnussen to retire before the restart.
-For 1997-1998 he had a seat in Formula One with the Stewart-Ford team, owned in part by his old F3 boss Paul Stewart. Team founder Jackie Stewart once described him as the best prospect since Ayrton Senna
