Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

You stole my thunder.

Johnny O’Connell and Jan Magnussen scored a historic victory for Corvette Racing with the team’s first in GT2. Magnussen crossed the finish line in his Corvette C6.R 0.331 seconds ahead of Risi Competizione’s Pierre Kaffer, who teamed with Jaime Melo.(Source:www.americanlemans.com)

That's 0.331 seconds ahead of the Risi Ferrari. I agree. Great racing! Gavin was in front of the #62 before he went off allowing a LMP car to go by. The Risi Ferrari took first with Magnussen quickly challenging. Risi was later be tracked down by Magnussen. Great first victory for Corvette in a crowded and competitive GT2 field. BMW has done well all year. The Farnbacher/Loles Porsches have stuggled recently but will be back. Jorge Bergmeister is just too good.

So Corvette finally has some competition. I was beginning to wonder if the Corvette guys knew "racecraft" seeing how they were the only ones in GT1 in ALMS. I was thinking that Corvette would not get thier first GT2 victory until next year! Great job to everyone at Pratt & Miller and Bad Boy Vettes!

Edit: Umm, mbukukanyau, actually it was at MoSport not Le Mans.

Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

That was an awesome race. Corvette and Ferrari battling it out for 1st and 2nd throughout the race.

It got a little hairy on that corner when they were side by side on cold tires.

It was an intense race all the way to the end.

Good to see that the GT2 C6R is more than capable of competing in their new class.

Go Corvette Racing!

Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

Sorry, New Mexico Bro!!!, Could not help it.
Guys, you got to remember the corvette team is still dialing in the car. As in testing it for this series.
Next year, you bet they will dominate.
I was under the impression that the Ferrari was probably faster, handled somewhat better, but the corvette had a better driver and more power out of corners. There was not way the Horse would have gotten the corvette, given it would always be ahead out of corners.
I was getting worried though at the end that the Ferrari might pass, somehow, Corvettes need to improve on their top end speed, me think...

Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

This is the moment when the Corvette and Ferrari (fighting for 1st place) went into the corner side-by-side on cold tires...

The Corvette lost grip, used the Ferrari as a guardrail, and took the lead.

Somebody has a new desktop image!
I love how the Ferrari kept almost losing grip in the same last corner on those last laps. He was really fighting for it man....

I loved that race. That's why ALMS (and LMS) is my favorite racing series.

I watched the race and loved it. The Vette was dominate on the straights. The Ferrari had it in the corners. Both Vettes were running good. Until the other was pushed off the track.

Re: Corvette Gets First Victory In GT2 at Le Mans

Bad-$ss as usual! Took only 3 races to reach the top step of the podium. Not to mention the cars have been consistent, making the podium in the previous two races.

I can see Porsche, BMW and Ferrari already whining to the stewards about the Vettes..... Hopefully they get told to build a faster car, just like Corvette was told in 2000 when they were getting beat by the Vipers.

TAKE NO PRISONERS!
