This is what SCCA Trans-Am racing was in it's beginning. I don't know what killed it off. Lack of sponsors, lack of TV coverage, or that they started using tube frame chassis with "production looking" bodies on them. This is why I love Australian V8 Supercar racing (& V8 Ute racing). Speed is on a higher priced cable package, so I don't have it. No Australian V8 supercars for me.

Yeah, Speed has really been disappointing over the last few years. Speed used to cary every other racing, and Nascar NEVER made it on there. When they went big time, they carried NASCAR...ugh.
No more WRC, and Speed doesnt even air its own race series, SCCA World GT.

BTW...this is what the Z28 should be.

I was at VIR today for the race and I saw the Sunoco Camaro run. I took a bunch of pictures and video and I've uploaded a bunch of it.

Here's a few pictures of the car and the drivers, David Donohue and Jeff Bucknum. The full set of 50+ photos can be found in the Webshots link in my signature. I also uploaded a video to YouTube of the Camaro doing a test pit demo before the race.

I had to leave about halfway through the 4 hour endurance race and the Camaro was in 3rd in the GS class at that point. I haven't seen final results yet, but the car was impressive and clearly was getting the most buzz at the track. Even the Nissan GT-R, the Ferrari 380, and the various other cars there didn't have the crowd that the Camaro attracted. There was no Challenger in the race. I was getting conflicting reports, but something happened on Friday and the car was not able to continue, so the whole Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger thing didn't happen.

Wow man great shots! I remember going to go see the CTS-Vs race at lime rock.
