Cadillac Unveils Fresh CTS-V Race Cars, Drivers for 2007 SCCA SPEED World Challenge

Team Cadillac to Field Two Champions in 2007
Thursday, 25 January 2007
Speed World Challenge Race Schedule Info

DETROIT, Mich. (Jan. 25, 2007) - Team Cadillac will have two champions on its roster in its pursuit of the 2007 SCCA SPEED World Challenge manufacturers championship. Lawson Aschenbach, the 2006 SPEED GT champion, will join 2005 SPEED GT champion Andy Pilgrim as full-season drivers on the Cadillac factory road racing team. They will wheel a pair of Cadillac CTS- V race cars sporting fresh new graphics.

"Team Cadillac is proud that we will have the last two SPEED GT champions in our stable this year," said Team Cadillac program manager Dave Spitzer. "Lawson showed last season that he has the speed and the racecraft that wins championships. He's an articulate and intelligent young American driver, and we think he is going to be a great fit with Team Cadillac."

Aschenbach, 23, scored one win and finished in the top 10 in every race last year en route to the SPEED GT Drivers’ Championship. He'll be paired with Pilgrim, who finished third in the championship standings with one victory and four podium finishes.

"I've done two tests with Team Cadillac so far, and they went really, really well," said Aschenbach. "That was the first time I've driven a front-engined race car - all of my previous racing experience has been in open-wheel and rear-engined cars. It was an unbelievable ride in the Cadillac CTS- V on the first couple of laps. I really enjoyed the handling and the horsepower. I think the Cadillac is going to suit my driving style.

"Our goal as a team is to win the manufacturers championship for Cadillac in 2007," Aschenbach added. "Working with Andy is a great experience; he's helping me to understand the data and teaching me how to get the best out of the car. He's a first-class person, totally unselfish, and I couldn't ask for a better teammate."

Pilgrim has been with Team Cadillac since its inception, and 2007 will mark his fourth season in the black Cadillac race cars.

Very nice...so happy to see Cadillac going places with their race team. I would love to see one of these races in person, or even settle for tv but I never get to.

I thought they'd start using the new CTS but I guess they have to wait a lil longer since they aren't even selling them yet.

I guess I should go on ahead and say the obvious....I WANT ONE!!

Not bad. I like the previous graphics better, but this one clearly promotes the Cadillac name much better... last years promoted the V-series logo more.

Glad to see Andy Pilgim back and Aschenbach is also driving the GXP.R in the Rolex series... I think he should be a good addition to GM's stable of drivers. Hopefully Max will return for the odd race.

HOT!

this paint scheme fits nicely. i still want to trade mine in for V and paint it like a the racecar minus the tiny logos/stickers.

Very nice looking race car... the font used for "Cadillac" down the side is very stylish..even if the letters are chopped a little in places.

Yeah, I did the same thing, but the CTS-VR is based off of the CTS-V, and we haven't seen the NEW V...yet. I really dig the new paint scheme, just as much as I loved the older one. It's simpler, but still very nice.

one question guys. Let say, the new cts v get dohc engine v8( just for argument sake..it can be ohv supercharge too).would cts also have that engine or it could keep this one. I don't know rules in SCCA so i dont know if gm must change the engine.

I noticed that this year they are racing at Charlotte speedway, an oval. Is this the first time that they have raced on an oval?

im guessing there gonna modify the infield. if they can i have seen how big it is inisde the track. but a good oval track race would be nice to let the Caddy run all day long.

As for the old body style im also kinda disapointed that its not the new one. i would have assumed that they could have developed the V car while they race the new car this year. Oh well im still wanting to see the Specs on the new V car...... damn.....
