Autosport Releases Its Controversial 'Top 50 Drivers' List For 2007

Autosport Releases Its Controversial Top 50 Drivers List

Peter McKay
27 December 2007
www.wheelsmag.com.au

Autosport's driver rankings for 2007 are sure to trigger debate.

Kimi Raikkonen at number one; we can’t argue with that, nor with the two that follow, rookie stunner Lewis Hamilton, and former world champion Fernando Alonso.

Those three were the cream of the Formula One crop in 2007.

Compiling such a list from diverse theatres of motor sport is not easy. But, boy, some of the ranking in Autosport magazine’s top 50 drivers of the year are absurd, if not reeking of some hefty British bias.

*Yawn* NASCAR Champion is 20th? And TWO other NASCAR drivers?

Right then. Remind me to read all if this guy's stuff, as if F1 wasn't boring enough already.

Not a V8 Supercars driver amongst them. A very Euro-centric list if there ever was one, with a few Yanks thrown in.

What, no Rick Trickle or Dennis Anderson? Obviously there is no credibility to this list!

Wow, just Wow. Who!!?!?!

Seems to be the whole F1 field mixed in with some other racing series drivers just balance it out a little bit.

Clint Boyer from Nascar should have ranked for finishing the Daytona 500 on his roof and on fire.

Now grid these 50 on a dirt/asphalt version of the Daytona roadcourse in AWD Evos for 300 miles and see who comes out on top...Autosport would be an excellent sponsor for the event.

Re: Autosport Releases Its Controversial 'Top 50 Drivers' List For 2007

its a business in the interest of selling their articles IE: controversy, they want to make money plain and simple.

whats so hard to understand, their in the business of making money, generating revenue, not telling the truth or reporting accurately...think of how much less they'd earn then!

At least they gave number one to Raikonen and not the Ron Dennis fembot Hamilton.

Jensen Button should be way down the list though.
