Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
No I can't. Its not RWD, its not a 2-door and it doesn't have a sinister Darth Vader styling to it. Grand National should never be used as a nameplate again. It won't be special like the original was and its pretty much the only hardcore performance nameplate Buick has. They should leave it a happy memory of the day when an 87 Buick would maul an 87 Ferrari on the drag strip.
It shouldn't ever be called Chevelle either. If anything can be a Chevelle its what we call the G8, a Commodore. But I'd rather Chevelle stay dead until GM's ready to give it a proper 2 door, large RWD sedan treatment. Now can you say Aura Red Line or Malibu SS or G6 GXP (this one really should happen, a turbo G6 would really help poncho's image)?

Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
Let's see, we'll put corporate radios in Saabs and generally turn them into an Opels with different styling. Take the hatchs away from Saab and give those to Opel. Install Saabs Cross Wheel drive on this Opel. As several people have said, why not just kill Saab and keep the engineers?
As to this particular vehicle. If produced as a Saturn Red Line, or a Saturn in regular performance guise, these cars would take sales from the Chevy, Buick and Cadillac so we know this isn't going to happen. As far as I'm concerned, until GM figures out a way to rationalize their product offerings, particularly in the US, we'll get very few of the really desirable products. Further, I have doubts GM will be able to stop the US losses in time to save the company! Just my opinion.

Argh, If they make a coupe, I might just have to drag one over here from Europe.

Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
I thought GM said that the US Aura was going to be different from the Insignia. Is that no longer the case and I missed something?

With 300bhp on offer from GM’s familiar 2.7-litre V6 engine, the fastest Insignia’s already beaten the 8mins 35secs benchmark Nurburgring lap time set by its smaller Astra VXR sibling.
This Vectra-replacing model shares a torque-splitting electronic differential with the Saab 9-3 Turbo X, helping it to put power down on the road and dialling out the ragged character of its two-wheel-drive predecessor. As the hardest Insignia, the VXR will get much beefier looks than the current range-topper – the all-wheel-drive Insignia that’s on display at the London motor show. From the photos the hatch version was the one at the track. http://www.autoscoops.eu/autoforum/v...ic.php?t=17735

Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
Message from GM Management:
NO! Go back and buy your dumbed down Aura. You lowly North American consumers are to stupid or loyal to deserve anything else. Response from North American Consumers: The Loyal Crowd - "OK where can I get an Aura XE with an ancient four speed automatic...did you hear what GM is releasing in six years? I hear it will be as good as today's Camry/Mazda6/Passat/Accord/etc..." The stupid crowd - They don't even know that GM makes other products better than in the US (or about this thread) so they give no response. The educated crowd - Flock to imports as fast as possible since they are the only ones investing in future technology like...in dash navigation, keyless ignition, etc. And for GM's best customer...Fleet Sales "We'll take 50% of your production as long as you continue to give them to us below cost."

Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
LOL...since we never got a redline version of the current Aura I won't hold my breath for a Redline version of the car that just got delayed for NA.

Re: Spy Shots: Opel Insignia OPC
Well, the rumoured tech-specs sound up to scratch, hopefully the styling is too. If the Insignia makes it to Aus as it's supposed to I see a very comfortable position for this car in the HSV line-up between the Astra VXR and the Clubsport.
