Pictures of 2010 Saab 9-4X Lapping the Nurburgring

Looks like Saab is getting pretty close to replacing the boat anchor 9-7X with the much better 9-4X, heck, it even looks pretty good lapping hte 'Ring.

Re: Pictures of 2010 Saab 9-4X Lapping the Nurburgring

You know? The 9-7X wouldn't have been bad if GM decided to put just a little more effort into it.... and if the Aero wasn't 3 years late.

More Saab-like seats.... More Saab-like features.... More Saab-like engine.... More Saab-like safety....

I mean.... the 9-7X is outselling the 9-5 after all...

I really like the shape of this, distinctive indeed!

More Saabness into the 9-7x? DOHC 6cyl making 290hp! Whats not Saab about a 400hp 6.0 V8 engine?

Id like to see the 9-4x with a twin turbo 3.6 making 450hp.

I think that just shows how bad the 9-5 is rather than how "good" (for lack of better words) the 9-7x is....

Yes because Saab needs to have the gas guzzling image of the rest of GM? And with gas continue to rise and be even higher when this car debuts.

These are the engines.

3000 V6 260 Hp 350 Nm
2800 T 300 Hp 400 Nm
2.0 Tid 190 Hp 400 Nm (diesel)
2.9 v6 Tid 250 Hp 550 Nm (diesel)

Both gas engines will probably have BioPower options. These are supposedly it, but I have a hard time believing there will no turbo'd 4 cylinder. Guess its that heavy.

And outrun Cadillac's precious SRX???
I'll believe it when I see it....

But yes... a 9-4X Aero better put up some serious HP numbers... And be BioPower to boot!

Give the SRX the same engine.

Re: Pictures of 2010 Saab 9-4X Lapping the Nurburgring

I like how GM is testing more and more vehicles on the track.

Now that they have a US version of the track it should reduce the need, but it is nice to know all GM cars will have the opportunity to run on the ring, or something similiar to it anyways.

Re: Pictures of 2010 Saab 9-4X Lapping the Nurburgring

Can someone remind me what else rides on the Theta platform? Is it just the SRX? Thanks.

As for the 9-4X, SAAB's engine should be just as powerful as a Caddy. If GM is going to invest enough dough to develop models for SAAB, it shouldn't water the brand down with de-tuned Caddy engines. SAAB is a global brand, and thus it should be available with all of the latest engine and safety technology. If GM doesn't want to do that because of Caddy, then GM should seriously decide on which brand they should kill, because they can not keep watering down (or pushing aside) SAAB.
