*sigh* I know. But they had an Opel Corsa at NAIAS 2008, but it it was up and out of the way, where you couldn't get near it. It's too small for me personally, but it's a very nice little car. I think it would do well with $4/gallon gas. Especially here in Canada with $1.20/L gas.

I know, I just wish it was built here from day 1 so we would of got everything the Opel version gets. At least its going to happen eventually.

And we pay €1.40/l or CAD2.25/l.

That's only for Super (95 octane). Super plus (100 octane, most new Turbo engines need that stuff) is now at €1.50+. Diesel cost about €1.36.

94 is the best you can do around here, and that's only at Sunoco staions. Pioneer has 93, and most others have 87/89/91 and that's it.

So diesel is cheaper than gas there, huh? It's more expensive here. It never used to be though.

I don't know if our Octane unit (ROZ) is the same as in Canada. We have also Normal gasoline (91 Octane) but it will be not longer available. So every car that only need "Normal" must use "Super" now (mostly older or Korean cars need only Normal).

That's the reason why most cars are sold with Diesel engines. Even those cars are cost more, for example you pay three times more tax compared to gasoline engines and Insurance cost are higher here in Germany. On the other side we have now very good Diesel engines like the 2.0 I4 with 204PS from BMW. Really good mileage but also fun to drive.

Re: Official? Pics of Insignia Leaked

I like the Insignia, it has a stately and reserved look. However, that won't do it much good in North America, where Saturn needs exotic looking cars to distance themselves from their old image.

Well Deisel used to be significantly cheaper here a few years ago, but they were still highly unpopular. There is more talk of people wanting them now because of the much higher MPG, but the US is totally screwing around with their emissions standards with diesel cars so much right now that even Volkswagen stopped importing them until the dust clears.

Also, Oldsmobile seemed to sour Americans to Diesels with their terrible smoke spewing loud noisy problem laden diesels back in the '70s.
I've never even seen one, but growing up diesels had this stigma of being noisy and dirty, so that's what Americans think when they hear diesel car. Also the only diesels that are sold are 1 ton and larger trucks, which tend to still be dirty and very noisy.

GM doesn't need a european styled Malibu. It needs the Aura to attract people who would otherwise buy a Passat or Accord -- premium, highly designed cars.

I second that. Saturn/GM needs this strategy.
