If GM were smart, there should be ZERO changes from Insignia to Aura, except for required localization requirements.
The vast array of buttons and European sophistication and "complexity" should remain.

GM doesn't need a european styled Malibu. It needs the Aura to attract people who would otherwise buy a Passat or Accord -- premium, highly designed cars.

Looks are one thing but ride is another. GM has to knock this out of the block to move the Aura off the lots.
This should be Saturn's last go around. If they can't make this Opel/Saturn Insignia work in the North American market, then GM needs to consider pulling the whole brand.

Insignia, nice looking car, but to me, i will still go for the Mondeo

Re: Official? Pics of Insignia Leaked

Uninspiring. Outside and in, it's like a mish-mash of a number of Japanese products, Nissan's in particular. Nothing particularly Opel about it but the emblem. A "nice" product isn't worth much if it communicates nothing for the brand. This car makes the Opel brand seem a bit confused. Way more Japanese here than German. Disappointing!

Well, the radio seems to be a completely different unit, a departure from current Opel infotainment systems such as CD30/CD30MP3 and DVD90...
But I think it's for better - current Opel units are not so easy to operate, you need to consult with the manual way too often, and everything except the most basic tasks is buried in the menu. Adding some extra buttons for most common tasks can't really make any harm.

Disappointing? According to your assesment, it'll sell zillions over here as the Aura.

This is a very European look that won't attract many Americans not used to or resent European design. And that is exactly what Saturn needs to distance itself from the very American Chevrolet!!!!!

See, told you that it's going to be set apart and look different. This should do VERY well against the Passat, etc as a Saturn. It's coming basically unchanged as the Aura guys, so what you see is what you get. I think it's a very competent car that'll do exactly what Saturn needs it to do.

Re: Official? Pics of Insignia Leaked

here is our progression.
Saturn L-series

Saturn Aura

Saturn Aura 2.0

The aura was a significant upgrade over the L series. I see this as a more evolutionary step with better overall packaging.

I dig that new logo. It looks better than the square peg in the round Opel they've been trying to pull off.

Yeah, I'm really impressed with the latest products to come out of GM. It's like, they're a car company again! Stylish, competent and well built cars across the board. I look forward to what the future holds!

Re: Official? Pics of Insignia Leaked

^I hope you are right and the Malibu comes for 2011 with all of this great product I really question why people will not come back to GM. The Aura should come with the LCD screen standard not nav but the screen like MyGig oh, and a CTSesque hard drive would be nice too.

Its about the same length as the Malibu, Aura, and G6, is a little bit wider and taller, but has a shorter wheelbase.
Thanks to Toto and to you for the conversion. I would guess that it is a little longer than the Malibu, Aura and G6. The extra width could be a plus.
I am sure it will not have as many engine choices once it shows up here with the Saturn badge on it.

Re: Official? Pics of Insignia Leaked

I like the current Aura front end a lot better. The current Aura headlights have a lot more detail. They very sharp now. The Insignia headlights look quite blah to me. I'm a little disappointed. The interior is nice but they didn't go as far as I thought they were going to go. Maybe the Americanized version will be more jazzed up (a la that new LaCrosse). The Insignia's rear looks better than the current Aura however.

The day GM designs Opels based on what'll sell well as a Saturn, is the day both Opel and Saturn go down the tubes.
