Re: Opel Insignia Almost Undisguised

Looks like a nice car, too bad rear headroom was deleted in a supposedly family car... This would make a good Pontiac IMHO, while the Aura would make a good Opel (with a decent interior, that is).

Whoever chose to discard the Vectra name will burn in hell for that (sooner than he/she might think, he/she will burn once the sales numbers will appear and the board will grill him/her).

Re: Opel Insignia Almost Undisguised

I don't understand why they are getting rid of the Vectra name either.

I'll have to wait and see the production model because what I see so far doesn't do much for me. Maybe it is the camo or maybe I just don't like it.

Around here families buy minivans.
No one packs a family into a cross state 10 hour drive in a sedan. Perhaps short 2 hour drive and back. If you are going on a long family drive, you rent a van.
Usually the Aura is the perfect ride for a Nurse.

Tiburon meets 5-series. That looks hideous. But will probably do well in Europe.

Re: Opel Insignia Almost Undisguised

I don't see the logic in dropping the Vectra name either. In my opinion, it far better to improve on the name from before, regardless of the baggage associated with it. One of the better examples was how Nissan took the Altima from a too-small midsize sedan to one of the premier players with one generation. Looking at the old Vectra versus this new version, they are shooting themselves in the foot with this name change.

This thing looks great though and hopefully it won't be dumbed down too much for the Saturn version.

400,000+ Camry owners disagree... along with about a million other sedan buyers annually in the US. Sorry man, that's a silly argument for not offering decent rear headroom in a sedan. Anything over 2 hours and people rent a minivan?!? Are you serious?!? People don't need to and won't need to if sedans keep offering adequate room. A family of four is perfectly fine in a roomy sedan like an Impala, Malibu, Camry, or Accord.

2 parents, two kids, two car seats, a double strawler.. add bags, a tent for camping, some coolers, firewood, sleeping bags, ...
do you know what a family is? Try doing family duty with a sedan. I learnt the difficult way.. and we only have one kid

Most sedans are used for comuttes to work and home, with minivans, SUV type wagons doing family duty..

Actually, most minivans and SUVs are used for the commute too... Not to mention this is a European car, and we in Europe actually use our family cars for family duties. We want our Mondeos, Passats and Vectras to happily swallow our four-to-five people families and transfer to our destination (not that many people would endure a 10-hour drive anyway with trains and airplanes, but even a 30-minute one is a horror when there's no room for your very head!).

Anyway, no more Vectra, no more headroom said GM. No more sales will the customers who bought them say, which is why I am not sure if GM went the right way here...

I hear you. Europeans have totally different tastes.
so you may be right.
But you do not know where there is head room in there or not? A G6 has a slopping roof and headroom coz the seat is low down
