Doesn't fit the SAAB looks.

Volvo pulls it off way better with the XC70.

Re: New SAAB 9-3 Offroad version

Well... the idea festered around for 5+ years or so.... Good to see Saab expanding the lineup. Saab has been seen as a "sport" and "activity" brand for years. it's good to see them trying to fit that existing image again.

It's still a shame that the 9-3 looks like a product of a Japanese rice factory.

poor attempt to break into this market... too little too late.

Did SAAB need this over a revamped 9-5???

not bad looking, however to me it just looks like fender flares added and new wheels, and that is all?

Would this be the 9-3 Allroad? Bet it does wonders for mileage.

Love it and love the 9-4 on the background. I hope they hurry up bringing the NG 9-5 to light!

I disagree. I hate the look of the Volvo XCs. This thing is sleek, I like it.

if you look closely at the side profile picture and look at the screen you can see the 9-5's nose poking out. these photos according to trollhattansaab.net were most likely taken at the GM Europe Dealer conference.

Re: New SAAB 9-3 Offroad version

Not necessarily the worst idea, a few inches taller than the standard which gives it a bit more of an cuv/suv feel. Given how people buy suvs etc for the higher seating position, and the vehicle is a wagon with assumedly decent fuel economy it might be a good niche vehicle.

Can't be any worse than what Subaru did with the Legacy(?) Outbacks which were raised a bit.

Re: New SAAB 9-3 Offroad version

to see the way this should have been executed, see Audi Allroad. this just looks bad. and those 3 spoke design wheels need to go.... all in all, it's not so good.

Is Saab the reason why the Insignia project is put on hold? I want an AWD sedan or wagon but don't want to pay the Saab price.

Re: New SAAB 9-3 Offroad version

I think it looks great. Gives a decent alternative to people that need the space but don't want a crossover or SUV. And with the XWD that thing is golden on any type of road.

Re: New SAAB 9-3 Offroad version

I don't mind it, but Saab needs to be pushing a high-tech / safety / high power, low consumption angle, not a tough off-road angle. This would have been a great car 5 years ago, not today.
