Re: New Meriva
I hate that these econocars are becoming so popular. I know in Europe that has always been the case, but here in the States...I don't know, I just don't like them. I fear a highway full of Smart cars. I want substance in a vehicle.

Re: New Meriva
I don't see the problem. GM will happily sell anyone an Enclave/Traverse/Acadia. This car just fills a need that is very popular in Europe and growing here in the States.

Re: New Meriva
As a long time fan of sleek "one box" cars I hope it comes here to America as something for GM.

That is one ugly P.O.S. Can't the design staff get off their backsides and design something that isn't a copy of a Toyota or a Honda...............we must have the laziest design staff at G.M. Bankrupt baby..............it's coming again!

Troll..............the truth really hurts doesn't it?????
Don't make excuses for G.M. I have never ever owned anything other than a so-called American made car.......... To see GM fail the Country like it has over the past few years..........well they deserve what they get............sad to say a lot of innocent workers have suffered. People like many on this site keep feeding pipe dreams ala 600 horse rear wheel drive cars that nobody can afford, while the foreign makers are selling common sense stuff. Again..........the Meriva is just a warmed over AVEO.............a real engineering marvel that doesn't get many more MPG than my Impala! You are the troll my friend...........people like you have bankrupted GM! BTW, I was in a GM showroom today.......ten sales people, eight new Camaros on the floor, and I had the showroom all to my self! Maybe the trolls drove customers away!

Lazy design staff? The LaCrosse, Regal, Equinox, Camaro, CTS, Terrain, SRX, Enclave, Acadia, Traverse and Cruze are all attractive vehicles that do not copy anyones and are considered to be at the leading edge of vehicle design by many. GM's market share is increasing and there is no chance of another GM BK in the near future or beyond. Toyota maybe or even Ford but not GM. |

The Meriva is a very unique vehicle. While it shares a platform (Gamma-series) with the Aveo, it is completely different. (Heck, I might be wrong and it could be based on the Delta-series platform!) One obvious difference is the suicide-door layout. I don't have pipe dreams of a 600-horse whatever. I don't usually draw those kinds of cars, which is why I rarely get a lot of feedback on one of my designs. Because I am young and haven't had experience with 50s-60s cars, I don't look to the past for inspiration on what I think GM's product portfolio should look like. I look to the future. Why are you moaning about a vehicle that will not be sold in the US? It's not like you have to drive it.
