I agree! Not with the Oldsmobile part but with the Opel part. It is hind sight but GM should have dumped Oldsmobile and brought over everything Opel to the US, lock stock and and barrel instead of creating Saturn.

Re: General Motors Product Wins 2009 European Car Of The Year!

What's wrong with calling it by its name, Opel Insignia? Everybody and their grandma know it's a GM product.

And why isn't it FRONT PAGE NEWS for God's sake????

Not only is it Opel's first COTY since 1987 and only third ever, but also the Insignia has beaten two iconic and very important models from chief competitors Ford and VW.

Saturn just needs to be killed off. There is no reason for the brand to exist.

The Insignia should be the Buick Regal (get rid of the LaCrosse name)
The Astra should be either the Buick Skylark or the Pontiac Sunfire (axe the 'G' names).
The Corsa should be a Pontiac, not the Aveo clone.

I really can't get past that dumpy looking side detail.
The front end is just OK too.

Re: General Motors Product Wins 2009 European Car Of The Year!

Well done Opel. A great job on a fine looking vehicle. This is obviously a very important segment, especially for the future, where conquest sales are going to become more prevalent. The success of the Insignia is definitely one worth celebrating. Anyone know how sales are going?

I thought this car is being brought over but will have different sheetmetal.

In any situation I hope GM puts that AWD (XWD) system on more vehicles and not just the Saab 9-3 and this.
