Distinguished? It needs to stand out...the Opel stands out....distinguished sounds like it is going to be bored down...

My guess is that the Insignia would probably end up being too-tech laden to fit a Saturn price point, like it or not people aren't willing to pay $40,000 for a Saturn, atleast not yet, so they have to dumb it down a bit to sell any of them

Just build one great mid-size !
US Senator Richard Shelby called GM a dinosaur.
He's right...
Because they have brands, and each brand needs a midsized car.
The midsized market is the most heavily contested market, and constantly fight back and forth for top spot.
Aura and Insigna would in turn, by the same car, or should be.
Putting more cars on the same platform keeps production costs down, and profitability up. Everyone does it, its what GM used to do so well, and its what they need to focus on in the future.

Not at all, there is no reason to do that. Distinguished as in be somewhat more provocative.

I agree, I really am coming to the conclusion that the Insignia should go to Buick, but with more Buick-like sheetmetal and Saturn be absorbed into Pontiac and Buick. When you ask the common person about Saturn, they still think of the plastic cars that don't dent when a shopping cart hit them. When they "redid" Saturn, they should of renamed them Opel or something different, hmm I dunno, maybe Oldsmobile since they are going right where Olds left off.

He's right...
It could also be argued that most of those US Senators have been around since the founding of GM, also making them dinosaurs.

Insignia compete with Passat and probably Laguna
So, how many Passats VW sells here and how many Laguna Renault is able to sell in this country?

Insignia will serve well only as niche car

Nope. Insignia is coming as Lacrosse/Regal/whatever.
A new Aura will be coming at a later date.

So much for the "euro influenced" Saturn.

Yeah I don't get it either, but I do think the Insignia looks better as a Buick.

Oh I don't. I think Buick should have the more "distinguished" look. And I think it should be better featured than the Insignia.

Re: General Motors Product Wins 2009 European Car Of The Year!

So when the new Astra comes out and sells at Saturn dealerships but looks exactly like a Buick that won't confuse the American auto buying public at all? GM is a joke man I root for them my whole life and they still unfortunatly have no clue how to run their business!

I don't understand how the Insignia isn't here as a Saturn already. As it stands right now they have no clue what to do with that car in regards to NA. I mean Buick is getting the LaCrosse and the Insignia? How does that make any sense? What they need two midsize cars? Granted the Insignia is smaller than the LaCrosse but not by much. The Insignia is gigger than the current Aura so how does it make sense for Buick to get both of these EPII cars I don't understand!
