Re: XLR spied again

I'm liking the rear exhausts more and more.
I'm not liking the fog lights more and more.

Other than the side vents I think it is a winner.

Re: XLR spied again

I love the exterior, I can't wait to see the interior. First of all, it needs new instrument gauges that just look dated on the old car and the dash needs to be tightened up a bit.

Come on GM !!!!!!

Re: XLR spied again

I really hope their is a side vent delete option. The way they are implemented seems to be contrary to the design of the rest of the car.

Re: XLR spied again

Still don't like it.

Those Jaguar-sourced side vents only gum-up what was a clean, strong profile. The grille is alright, but those fog lamps are small and fussy. And would someone please explain those chrome bars placed almost at random over the lower grille.

The interior will have to be lined in cashmere and several board-feet of rare woods to make up for this over-decorated exterior.

I hope that Cadillac gives up on this market segment. A 4 or 5 place convertible, yes. But success with 2 place roadsters has eluded for decades.

It needs a lot of work, yes, but I don't hope they give up.

It does seem like they're not really trying though.

Thumbs down Re: XLR spied again

I am very disappointed. I would rather see Cadillac replace this with a convertible version of the upcoming coupe.

Re: XLR spied again

Greetings All,

I will reserve me impression until I see the 2009 XLR in person. I will be attending an XLR event in a few weeks where I will see the 2009 XLR in person. My mission is to evaluate the 2009 XLR for replacement of my 2005 XLR and if all goes well, I return with my decision to purchase a 2009 XLR.

For those of you who have an interest in the Cadillac XLR/XLR-V for 2009, I will provide my impression of the mid cycle refresh. This event I plan to attend will be the official world preview of the 2009 Cadillac XLR. I will report back after the event and my experience, impression and evaluation.

Re: XLR spied again

I have hope for the interior, but I can't say that I like any of the exterior changes. The XLR is one of those cars that looks so much better in person......it truly has an exotic look to it. Most of the changes I see appear to merely be changes for the sake of change. And those side vents are criminal. The current XLR in black is a very classic, clean design which is somewhat rare in this era of look alike cars.

Hi Hoosier Red,

I cannot say I disagree with you based on the photos. But, I saw photos of the Cadillac XLR prior to my in person viewing and when I saw the XLR in person and test drove it, I purchased on the spot. The style and design of the Cadillac XLR is exotic and one of the most compelling designs to me.

Re: XLR spied again

I like it except for the vents. They look so out of place, they don't fit with the rest of the car.

[quote=DuSpinnst;1395341]Other than the side vents I think it is a winner.[/quotate]

I can confirm that GM has CTF (Captured Test Fleets) being evaluated to assigned drivers for the 09 XLR around metro Detroit. If anyone wants a 06, the Cadillac dealer I use has a new, never titled, on the showroom floor, for 51K.

By the way DuSpinnst....nice choice on going with the white on the Vette. Beautiful. Enjoy it...sure you will. I also noticed your dad (I think it was your dad) got into a Saturn Vue XR. I got my folks into the new VUE from Saturn of Clarkston; back in Jan when they had the red tag sale. I picked out a great blue exterior with the tan interior and they actually went with a Black Red Line....to my total surprise, and they are late 50's. I actually did the test drive and really thought it was a good fit for my folks, Red Line or XR. The XR has the better ride but this Red Line I'm liking. I'm up in the air as far as cars go. I'm going to get into a G8 GXP probably...due to the fact that this is probably the last hurrah for performance like that for some time. I just missed out on a $1000 off on the 08 CTS through GM Family First if you are currently a Cadillac owner;....not a bad delimia to be in.

Re: XLR spied again

Can GM do anything about these things losing almost half there resale value in 2 years? Do BMW 6 series and Mercedes SL's do that too? I wouldn't know, I work for a living and could never afford to piss away that kind of money. That's why I am asking.
