Cadillac V6 2.9L diesel in the us?
An article from AutoblogGreen about the possibility then we could see the upcoming 2.9L V6 diesel under the hood of Cadillac for the US market.
http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/12...sel-in-the-us/ That's a good news to me, now if this diesel could go also on others GM Zeta-cars for our market ![]() |

This would be a very wise move. The American brands really do need push to re- introduce diesel powered models to the U.S. market.

Re: Cadillac V6 2.9L diesel in the us?
Future diesel models for the US that are known:
*GMT-700's (Colorado, Canyon, H3, H4) *BRX *CTS line *Saab 9-4x (not confirmed yet though) *Epsilon II cars (not confirmed, but likely) Lambda's are getting the Two-Mode here shortly, so I don't know of any plans for a diesel. So long as GM has some engines that meet emissions requirements and Euro 5, they will use them in whatever they can in the U.S. |

Re: Cadillac V6 2.9L diesel in the us?
Nothing concrete. We don't hear much on Flex-Fuel simply because the development for it is minimal (work-wise), so it's not a big topic with insiders.
I do know that there is still a push for it internally. I would -think- a 3.6L HF Flex-Fuel would be in the works, but that is pure assumption on my part. |

The price of diesel really needs to come down to have a big impact. Right now, here in Northern Va, premium is under $3 and diesel is running about $3.40.

Re: Cadillac V6 2.9L diesel in the us?
^^^ Same here, gas is $2.59 and diesel is a whopping $3.59!!! I remember the days where diesel was heads and tails cheaper than regular gasoline! I wish that was the case today!!!! I get pretty good mile for a 1-ton truck (avg. 18mpg unloaded) but then you fill up a 36 gallon tank it is still outrageous!(not to mention all the off-road fuel I use on my farm)
What are the specs on the 2.9 V6 diesel?

Re: Cadillac V6 2.9L diesel in the us?
By 2010 or 2011 there will be a wide range of vehicles on sale in the USA with diesel engine options, and it seems likely that they will be very popular.
VW will have the diesel Jetta sedan and wagon (and probably other models) on sale by this Summer, and the mileage they have been reporting is wonderful. I see no reason to keep making gasoline engines for cars and trucks, and would support banning gasoline engines by 2015. Some people have argued that more demand for diesel fuel will lead to higher prices, but that would only be true in the short run. If we switch to diesel, every station will be selling the exact same product, so they will be very competitive and all of the expenses associated with gasoline branding will be gone.
