Wall Street Journal chooses CTS Wagon in comparo!

Examining five popular wagons, and automakers' desire for a resurgence in consumer interest in stationwagons, the Cadillac CTS Sportwagon is the writer's choice! Read about it here:

Wow.

I had to read the title of the thread twice to make sure of what I saw.

I don't think it's quite right though to call this a "comparo". The Cadillac is certinly the most expensive one of the group. The VW and Subaru are not competitors to the CTS wagon.

But it's nice to see a Cadillac coming out on top in any group of vehicles. And something the author failed to note, it is Cadillacs first-ever product in this market segment.

Good to hear. Caddy needs good news to get more sales. This car don't look half bad either as a wagon.

Re: Wall Street Journal chooses CTS Wagon in comparo!

My only real beef with this "comparo" would be the use of a Volvo XC70. Why not use the real wagon, the V70?

I find the V70 steering feel to be very adequate and it has plenty of pep. It also get much better fuel economy (27 mpg highway). I think the V70 is a much better vehicle than the XC70.

The CTS wagon is a great vehicle though.

Not much of a review, but the guy liked it, and that's something.

This is much like the comparo of American cars to European cars where the European cars are much more expensive then the American cars.

This just goes to show that the more expensive car has a better shot of being better............

I saw on the other day. I'm not much of a wagon type, but I did like it. If I wanted a wagon, this is what I'd buy!

Re: Wall Street Journal chooses CTS Wagon in comparo!

It was kind of an odd comparo considering the price range but there really isn't many wagons out there for U.S. consumption. Regardless he nothing but good things to say about it. Great review.

Unfortunately I have to ask GM once again, where is the center headrest in the rear?

No brainer for me among those cars, still a bit too pricey in Canada. I would get a regular 3.6L sedan and save a few grands.

Re: Wall Street Journal chooses CTS Wagon in comparo!

The first-gen SRX, which was essentially a tall CTS wagon, won just about every comparo in which it was included. Lot of good that did it.

Re: Wall Street Journal chooses CTS Wagon in comparo!

Great news on the CTS Wagon. A great product that hopefully will change the minds of Americans when it comes to wagons.

My question is why Wall Street Journal classifies this as a wagon while Motor Trend classifies it as an SUV?
