Re: Sign Up For The 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover Test Drive Event
I wish GM would do more of these. It worked for me. I ended up in an Astra 10 months or so after the local Astra ride and drive event. Granted there was no fancy cuisine (but there was a buffet of appetizers), and the only giveaway was a large Astra water bottle (apparently to drive home the fact that there is only one large cupholder in the front of the car to hold it).
I did like driving the Astra back to back with a Civic, Rabbit, and a Mazda 3. It really sold me on the solid handling of the Astra. If there was an event in Michigan, I probably would have attended, just to drive the SRX. It looks great and has gotten such great reviews on it's driving dynamics. |

My guess is they are concentrating in areas where Cadillac has some presence but needs to do better. Maybe they arent in the midwest because Cadillac does well there already.

Do you know if my wife would have to register separately? Or if I register can she also drive?

Re: Sign Up For The 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover Test Drive Event
I saw three being delivered to the Cadillac dealer here. I walked over at lunch time and looked them over as they were writing them up for PDI's. A saleslady was walking all around all 3 while talking on her cell phone. Next day there were only two on the lot. They are very impressive close up. Much more attractive in detail than any photograph I have seen. Especially well done is the dash and steering wheel. Also more roomy inside than they look.

I know it was the same story with the fiesta movement events that Ford had awhile back It's not that hard to make at least one stop in Michigan (especially since Michigan is home turf for all three domestics) And even though the economic meltdown has been pretty bad here there still is a pretty big car market here and I'm sure there are plenty of consumers in the state who could be swayed to the SRX with events like this

Re: Sign Up For The 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover Test Drive Event
My dad went to them all the time in Cleveland. I can't access the website here at work, it is blocked. Both he and my mom could drive the cars. From what he described, a driver took them through a course first in groups, describing the advantages of the Cadillac, while the passengers got to experience the pro driver and the other features. Then they cycled through taking turns driving. They had a small camera in the CTS last time. You did a timed lapped through a course, then they ranked people on their times. They then posted the video online and sent you the link. You then got bonus points for the number of people you got to watch your video. I don't know what the winner received. He really enjoyed the drives and was better able to compare the cars. For example he liked the SRX better than the RX because it handled and drove better, but he did think the RX had more comfortable back seats. I

Damn nothing in my area....I do not feel like driving to New York. Hopefully they put on more of these.
I remember going to a GM test drive event a number of years back where they had a bunch of their different models and some competitors so you could experience them side by side. It was an excellent opportunity to see what they offer and drive them without sales people around hasseling you.

Thanks for the link, Perian. I signed up for the September 19th Event for Philadelphia (Actually it's in South Jersey, which is better for me!). This should be fun. I haven't been to one of these since the Astra launch. I'll post about my experience if others haven't given write ups by then. Thanks again.

Perian, Thank you for this post. I will plan to attend the NY session this weekend. I am very intersted to review Cadillac's new SRX. This is just perfect to review comparable luxury brand models at the same time. Thanks again. JLM |
