Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

Quote:
The all-new 2009 right-hand drive Cadillac CTS sport saloon, which makes its public debut at the British International Motorshow, goes on sale at Cadillac retailers from September 1 priced at £26,995 ($53.484 US) for the 211hp 2.8-litre V6 VVT model and £32,995 ($65.365 US) for the 311hp 3.6-litre VVT direct injection V6.

Both models will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a floor selector, the larger engine coming with paddle shift controls. The model range will be joined by an advanced 2.9-litre V6 diesel engine in 2009.

“The launch of the right-hand drive CTS marks a major step forward for the Cadillac brand in the UK,” said Jonathan Nash, director in charge, Cadillac UK “We believe the focus on dramatic design craftsmanship and the class leading technologies will ensure the CTS is a desirable, exclusive alternative in today’s premium car market.”

Both rear-wheel-drive sport saloon models come with traction control and a limited slip differential, and feature a single premium ‘Sport Luxury’ trim level with a class-leading amount of standard equipment.

The high level of specification means that the options list will consist of only three items: metallic or premium metallic exterior paint finish, electric sunroof and ‘Sapele Pommele’ wood interior trim finish.

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

I can see a couple of problems....

1-it seems expensive, I thought that it was going to be a better deal with the weaker dollar

2-no manual transmission(at least thats what it reads like)

3-No V series available

4-Lack of a diesel from the get go.

Hopefully the coupe and wagon are going to be sold over there too.

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

Well the options list is promising, in the sense there really isn't one.

Regarding the diesel, better to be a little late and have the right product than show up with the wrong one and kill your reputation.

Certainly the new CTS is a very appealing car, even more so when compared to the old one. Hopefully this gives Caddy a good boost in Europe. Maybe we can see some articles in 6 months or so more telling us they are on backorder as the car is so popular.

I understand the need. Can't put a V6 in a vehicle and call it GTO. Never have, never will.

Now let's take a look at a comparable Jaguar XF.

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

It's still a little anoying to me, that for example Mercedes can launch a new E-class for example, have LHD, RHD, diesel, gas, supercharged AMG, auto, manual, base, lux, taxi, etc etc versions available from pretty much the get go and we the home team are still taking forever on moving the wheel to the wrong side

We need to move more quickly to take advantage of opportunities, when do you think that someone will be able to buy a RHD V series coupe? 2030 or never?

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

Does the 2.8L really save any gas compared to the DI 3.6L?

I can't wait to see the numbers for the Diesel, both MPG and 0-60

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

well at least they designed a right hand drive car this time. It seems GM is mentally retarded in thinking about "global" architecture and lhd and rhd models.

It's because GM doesn't see a lot of opportunity in the RHD market. Apparently, all their attempts at selling LHD cars in RHD regions has met with failure, so they have decided that their cars don't sell well in these regions for some reason, and have decided not to pay attention to these markets.

Fact is.... if GM wants to go global, then every single one of their cars and platforms needs to be ambidextrous. It is not that way, nor do I believe that will ever change. because GM has seen their LHD cars not sell well in RHD regions. That's all the reason they need.

1. Yes, it is expensive, but not anywhere near as much as it is here in Finland.
Try 59,000 euro's for the Elegance CTS with 2.8L, and 78,000 for the AWD
Sport Luxury with 3.6L. So, that means $93,000 USD for the cheapest CTS,
and $121,000 USD for the top of the line version. Now that is hideously
overpriced. Probably why I don't see any. And you thought the worthless
USD would help in pricing here?

2. Manual tranny would be smart to be offered. Many people here still prefer
manuals.

3. No V-Series. Not a big deal that it's not initially offered.

4. Not offering diesel engine offerings from the get go is a huge mistake. Not
only do they offer superior mileage, but also tax benefits here too.

5. Wagon version is mainly for Europe, not North America. Here wagons are
still King.!

Re: Right-hand drive Cadillac CTS prices revealed

Hooray for the GMT, if so then thats even more pi$$ poor than before, if they can do it for the trucks why can they do it for the CTS? and even so, the GMT 800 is probably not RHD capable, did not have and still does not have the 6 speed auto available across the board.
