What's needed now, after a big Cash Transfusion, is a Luxury Full/Mid Sized Cadillac, no amenities spared (Seville) with a sports model, and introduced with the Northstar 4.4 V engine. Also there should be a long range Turbo Diesel V6 engine, and a price leader V6 3.0 engine (one made with balance shafts, and completely free of the cheap feeling CTS V6 engines).

Also running changes need to be made to the CTS, with updated engine offerings, and available magnetic ride control option.
I AGREE,CADILLAC DEFINATELY NEEDS A 750 FIGHTER. THE CTS IS DEFINATELY MAKING ITS WAY UP THE IMPORTS ASSES. IF GM CAN SHOW THAT THEY TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR CAR LINES,PEOPLE WILL START BUYING GM AGAIN. IF THEY STOP MESSING WITH THE FORMULA THAT WORKED IN THE 60'S AND 70'S INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CHANGE THE LINEUPS TO COPY THE IMPORTS. THE SIXTEEN IS 5 YRS OLD BUT I THINK IT CAN MAKE A DENT IN SALES AND ADD MUCH NEEDED PRESTIGE BACK TO CADILLAC.

HEY! Wait a minute....something occurred to me just now. The Velite concept had a 3.6L TT V-6 which put out 400hp and 400ft/lbs of torque. Why don't they just put it in a large luxury sedan for Cadillac? Give it full VVT and DI and all the other new technologies available and there you go. It'll probably do better than a few yrs ago for power and give pretty good fuel economy.

That project was cancelled by the GM Board.

Check out post # 277 in this thread, page 19 and member DOCRAY1:

Cadillac is "considering" both options right now; both "news sources" are correct. The "DT7" is "delayed" right now, but may well be axed; certain components already have been terminated (V8, V6 Twin-turbo, hybrid, etc). The decision to be made will be whether to resurrect the project which is now emasculated or whether to drop it altogether and focus capital on smaller sedans (ie: Alpha) and crossovers. Meanwhile, Cadillac has no "flagship" aside from the DTS (or the CTS-V, depending on your point of view).

Toyota really do try and pass off the Lexus as "not Toyota", Some have been fooled, I was one of them once.

Does this also rule out the 3.6TT that holden had in the Torana concept?
Holden also build the 2.8 turbo for Saab, surely this (or a derivative) will be pressganged into service elsewhere amongst the GM Brands.
Could be a good alternative to the mooted turbo 4 in the Zetas and also the CTS.

Any purchaser that doesn't know Lexus is made by Toyota is living in a cave. I don't think it's hidden at all. And how does Lexus/Toyota differ from Holden/Pontiac? The Holden's are rebadged as Pontiac.

The engine that was showcased in that particular car, yes.

You may well be right about the 2.8 Turbo though.

Maybe you give people to much credit in knowing a great deal about cars?.
The average buyer wouldn't know much, Wouldn't care much about how many points it scores they just want to drive it.

Bigger difference is this, Toyota is Lexus, Holden isn't Pontiac.
We are talking same car down to it's bolts, With same engines gearboxes etc, With a stuck on front bar.
With lexus, I'm sure they go into a little more detail in look and performance then a rebagged holden/pointiac.

pontiac is not a rebadged holden expect for the gto and g8. They only have different grills, Pontiac has the twin kidney on it. Pontiac is a rebadge of toyota matrix (pontiac vibe) Chevy colbalt (pontiac g5 torrent) , chevy malibu (pontiac g6) so basically pontiac is just a rebade of other products. And when you look at these cars you will find most of them are about 95% rebadges just look at the g5 cant tell any difference from the side view. Same on the vibe/matrix. I think GM needs to have only three brands. GMC to replace Chevy simply because all other makers have one volume brand with their name on it so why does gm make gmc only trucks suvs and cuvs the G8 sut should be the GMC ElCamino. Lets see ford, bmw, vw, toyota, hyundai (they have 2 as they are hyundai/kia) tata, you get the picture. So for gm to make it they must make gmc into a full line that has the most power of any gm brand, right now chevy has it and that is wrong. Or have gmc rename themselves Chevrolet Motor Company.

On a side note, what is up with the ticker being on the left side? I am so used to it being on the right side, i think we need a poll to see were people like the ticker or make it a custon ticker to place were people what it and what feeds they want on it.

CHEVY IS THE MOST RECOGNIZED NAMEPLATE GM HAS. GMC WOULD NOT EVER SELL AS MANY TRUCKS AS CHEVY DOES. THE CHEVY EL CAMINO OUTSOLD THE GMC CABALLERO BY 3 TO 1. PONTIAC IS A TOTALLY REBAGED LINEUP. THE G8 SPORT TRUCK IS YET ANOTHER STUPID GM MOVE IN TRYING TO MAKE PONTIAC WHAT IT AND CHEVY WAS IN THE 60'S. THE SPORT TRUCK SHOULD BE A CHEVY EL CAMINO. AND YOU CAN RENAME GM CHEVROLET WITH CADILLAC AS THE LEXUS AND SATURN AS THE SCION. BUT HONESTLY THE CHEVY LINEUP NEEDS TO HAVE LUXURY,ECONOMY,TRUCKS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY..............PERFORMANCE.

Re: Only@GMI: Cadillac Zeta Car Rumored Dead

GM would be crazy to eliminate a flagship Cadillac, that should have a powerful V-8 as at least an optional powerplant. If the "Zeta" Cadillac is "dead," then they are going to use a different chasis, or call the descendent something other than "Zeta.
Could the STS chasis be stretched to 120", widened to 75"? If it could, then it could fulfill the flagship role, with updated styling and interior, since it has an awd/rwd platform already.
