Nov 9th: CTS-V Spy Shots

http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac-cts-v-future.html

Spy photographers have snapped another round of photos showing the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V undergoing testing with minimal disguise. The car is expected to use the new "LSA" Corvette motor, developing at least 500 horsepower. The car caught in these spy photos appears to be very close to the production model, with the front and rear fascias looking nearly complete. A modest spoiler can be seen on the CTS-V's decklid and, for the first time, its wheels look production-ready.

The CTS-V will feature a supercharger integrated into the intake manifold. This is the same setup the upcoming Corvette ZR-1 will have with its LS9 motor. However, while the Corvette ZR-1 motor will be hand built at the Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI, the Cadillac's LSA motor will be built in a conventional motor plant.

Automatic and manual transmissions will be available, and an optional paddle shift feature is also anticipated.

Re: Spied Again: CTS-V

Look at the buldge in the hood, can you say supercharger, so its safe to say this the 6.2 liter and not the ls7
will it be direct injection or are they saving that for the next gen corvette

I highly doubt that is going to be direct injection. We won't see that engine in couple more years probably, and if rumors are correct future powertrain in cts-v (after this S/C version) is going to be all new DOHC V8 engine (probably with some kind of force induction).

Holy Lord those are some big brakes in those wheels. Anyone else notice how fat the FRONT rubber is? Could this be an AWD version? *hopes*

Re: Spied Again: CTS-V

According to GM if I remember right the LS3 and the L76 are the last two new Gen IV SBC's, any new SBC after that will be Gen V and that direct injection is being looked at with the Gen V.

I hope that all Gen Vs pack direct injection..........

Re: Spied Again: CTS-V

They should Make sure that there is two trim levels of CTS V.. one with only five horses less than the ZR, release them two years apart, so that the first one with 550 horses forces Germans to go back to the drawing board for the M5/AMG 65 etc...and when Their answer is out, Just bring out the Big gun.. 645 Horses CTS V with AWD.. and a $125,000.00 price tag.. plus produce 500 For Asia, 1000 for North America, and 500 for Europe and close that chapter until the next CTS V.

That is what I would do.. Just kill em..

When I read your post I had thought that maybe I made a typo, then I googled SBC to make sure I knew what it was lol.

Kinda shocked that you dont know what it is but then agian maybe its just the sign of the times.

SBC stands for Small Block Chevy as in the Small Block Chevy V-8 that was first put into the Corvette in 1955 in 265ci trim (4.3L) engine making some 190HP or was that 195HP I cant seem to remember.

Gen II started with the LT-1 V-8 engine and Gen III started with the LS-1 V-8 while Gen IV started with the LS2. Not sure where the Gen V will start off as, but Im expecting it to be good.

LS8, LS9 and LSA are based on the LS3 (they are an LS3 with a Supercharger). So they like the LS# are Gen IV motors. Any motor coming after those will be Gen V. Gen V's also probably won't be LS motors but a new designation since the LS1-9 (and even A) has been used).
