Well, to the general car buying public, perception IS reality... it's all the same company. You can have the best widget in the world, but if your marketing and distributing is run by clowns, no one will ever know or see one....

Cadillac's are ecxpensive, the sooner folks get that, the better it will be for the brand.

Re: New Cadillac Website

Nudging up the prices doesn't bother me because, over time, the CTS needs to move up in price. I do hope they add some features and equipment for the increased price, though. (is the 3.0 the DI version? If so, that's an upgrade).

The CTS needs to move closer to the 5 series to make room for the ATS. I just hope that's what GM is thinking in making this move.

I'd like to see the next gen CTS starting near 40K (maybe 39,900) and the ATS starting at $29,900. That would make the Cadillac a good value proposition while it continues to improve its reputation, but without making it "cheap." Undercutting the competition by a few thousand in this category is a good strategy. Continuing to market a 5 series sized car at a 3 series price is not.

No Platinum option for the CTS family? Seems kinda odd.
LOL, that Interiors/360 took a while to load even on my T1 connection at work. At least when you rotate the car it tries to simulate shadowing and stuff like that...

I wondered about that myself. But looking at the interior of the CTS, I wouldn't know where to begin improving it.

And this is the last year for the STS/DTS/ XLR so those platinums will be gone by next summer.

Wow. Just typing that made me kinda sad. I hope the new Cadillacs make it out soon. But, Lincoln survived with only a Town Car, LS, and Navigator for a while.

How much is that in real money, eh?

Seriously, it looks like Cadillac understands luxury pricing. Makes me wonder if GM still plans on offering too many discounts to move product - which a particularly bad policy for Cadillac's image.

Re: New Cadillac Website

While I agree with most of you that Cadillacs are expensive and that the CTS should be moved up in price, especially with the ATS coming, it is the way in which they are doing it.

It gives a very bad impression when you just arbitrarily raise the price of something, especially by $2K here in Canada, with NO CONTENT being added. Especially in the face of our dollar rising more then any other major currency right now, save the Australian one.

The price should be moved up in a structured, reasonable and logical manner that is all I am saying. They should take a page from the Hyundai Genesis on this one, which is a car it DIRECTLY competes with.

Not impressed.

They really upped the prices on the CTS, charging quite a premium for the 3.6.
thats probably your internet connection, it took seconds on my fios

I agree here not only does cadillac need to nudge up prices for the ATS but it also needs to separate itself from BUICK.

A "Platinum" CTS would include: Tehama Leather (generally, more 'real' leather throughout), more plush carpeting and mats (with wreath & crest emblems), added standard features, unique highly polished wheels, suede headliner, Recaro seats from the V-Series, unique exterior badging, an added "Cadillac" script engraved in the chrome brow over the rear license plate (as I've seen on pics of the CTS Sportwagon), unique wood trim, chromed door handle inserts, additional small wreath & crest emblem on the C-pillar or etched into the glass of rear door small window or by the front fender vent, unique door sill plates (illuminated), power folding mirrors and integrated signal indicators on the mirrors, and other such more plush luxuries. I'd also recommend a few unique exterior color choices for the Platinum models only--with a little color (i.e. Liquid Amethyst, Firemist Gold, etc.)--as opposed to the drab, neutral shades standard now. The premium price for the Platinum CTS would exceed the little additional cost of making them--and there would be virtually no options! It would help GM to return profits from the Cadillac division, much the same way special editions helped out in the '70's and '80's, where the cost of the option far exceeded the cost of producing the package--but they sold because they were all about style and luxury! Go for it, Cadillac!

Re: New Cadillac Website

Cadillacs are going to be expensive. This is not going to change anytime soon and with the LAcrosse going from $28k-$41k I am not surprised at the CTS pricing. The car has crept up in price since it debuted in 2002. The 2008 model started at about $33k but that didn't include the automatic which everyone gets anyway so the car was really over $34k when it came out in 2007. The ATS will fill the $30k-$37k void when it comes out.

Re: New Cadillac Website

I think what you are going to see with Cadillac is a move to become a smaller volume, higher quality, higher priced vehicle.

I think they going to move up market (where they belong) and be replaced by the premium/luxury offerings of Buick.

Cadillac needs to be a state of the art, highly desirable, highly coveted vehicle. Currently it really is not. I think it is slowly starting to happen and it really can't come into fully affect until Buick is firmly in place and the consumers begin to understand both of those brands new position.

I see nothing wrong with this. Cadillac should be a vision of personal power and wealth and be a vehicle that most of the public drool over but know they will never be able to afford (unless they win the lottery.) Most of the current customer base (the image conscious and heavily in-debted folks) will have to make their next purchases from the revitalized Buick brand.

Re: New Cadillac Website

It could just be a typo...but why does the Ecalade Platinum start higher than the ESV Platinum and the Hybrid Platinum?

Somehow I have a feeling that CTS buyers in Canada will be pissed off with almost current parity between Cdn/US $ and car are still more (~10% from base price) expensive even before taxes.

On the other hand that would explain sales drop and future market spot for ATS, but still looks artificial hike with basically lower powertrain trim.
