Re: New Cadillac Website

As a software and web-site developer I know first-hand that before a new site goes to poroduction, it is often made available on a test basis. This test site normally has an obscure URL in order to limit it visibility to non-testers and is normally on a slower server or slower connection for both testing performance for people on slower connections and due to cost of hosting it on the big production server clusters most of these sites are on. With that said, I think the site is very nice and I like the whole global thinking of the site.

Cadillac Europe DID fail...
There is no export to Europe anymore until they figure out a new concept and a new importer in Europe. The euro website is a sad reflection of that situation.

Re: New Cadillac Website

In my only other post I said this and I will say it again. A RWD only strategy for sedans and coupes just at Cadillac will fail. Especially at those price points. Even the most diehard GM fan will have to ask themselves whether BMW is a better value. Cadillac will be stuck with rebates.

(I am saying this as a present owner of a 2008 Tahoe Hyrbid, a 2004 gto, and a 1973 corvette.)

Re: New Cadillac Website

I went to the CTS portfolio, choose sedan and was greeted by starting at $36K and change, as shown $50K and change, and the image never loaded. Somehow a company that can't get their website to function correctly, several dead links, expecting me to spend $50K on a CTS has lost touch with reality, IMO.

Uhhh....news flash. The guys that design and engineer the cars don't design the web-site.
If GM was a city (and it IS larger than most), its kind of like saying the
new park doesn't have enough benches so I don't trust the metro trans line to run on time and therefore the city has lost touch with reality.

Try pricing for Canada, with taxes and freight base model is around $47K Cdn.

I know I was looking at that yesterday as we are going to purchase a new car next year and I was trying to convince my wife to skip the NOX and lets go for the CTS or possibly the CTS wagon but their prices have jumped big time.

Why or when did this happen? They have not added any significant content to the new model year so where is the price hike coming from? Anyone have any thoughts?

GM can't just move the price point because they think it was under-priced in the first place. Throw some stupid content on the vehicle then move the price up. From a retail strategy this makes very little sense!

I can only guess, but your economy hasn't improved yet (cash value) and the CTS has some added standard features compared to the former year?

Re: New Cadillac Website

The value of the USD has been dropping like a rock. Biggest contributor to this is our government printing money for more and more government programs and organizations. Unfortunately commodities based on the USD adjust for the devaluation with a price hike. Oil, steel, all going up in price to adjust for the dollar getting weaker. That's at least one factor, but maybe not all. The increase material costs get passed to the consumer. In the end we're all poorer cause the dollar doesn't buy as much as it did previously that is unless one got a nice jump in wages to simply compensate for the difference.

Re: New Cadillac Website

They better quickly update Buick's website. It still has the line, "Take a Look at Me Now" and doesn't mention the Regal (the least they could do is show a Regal under "future products" / "coming soon" or whatever).

On the contrary 70eldo, our economy and specifically the dollar has improved more then our government or the Bank of Canada would have liked. In fact they are coming up with ways to slow down rapid rise of our dollar.

I just don't understand where the nearly $2000 price hike came from. From the sounds of it, from other posters on this forum, it has also gone up in the US. Is that correct?

Re: New Cadillac Website

GM should have hiked the price of the CTS. A BMW 528i starts at 45k. That is still 9k more. The CTS should really be more like 40k. They need to prepare for the ATS, which ought to target the 32k BMW 328i. The CTS is still too close to that. I really don't want to see a Cadillac in the 20k range.

Cadillac needed to move upmarket, the low 30s are Buick/GMC territory. Only the ATS should be "cheap". I'm going to pretend that the SRX doesn't exist even though I like it. 33k is too cheap for a Caddy SUV. An Enclave is more expensive than that.

Re: New Cadillac Website

The show the PROVOQ in the "Concept/ Future Vehicles" section. WTF? Isn't already the SRX?? Okay, okay, it is the HYDROGEN version but really...

Cadillac, please make sure your site is ready before displaying it to the world.
