Re: Meet Your 2010 Cadillac Lineup

Well fortunately for me I've yet to develop a purchasing customer relation with a car company. I will be giving Ford products a close hard look and if they do anything decent Chrysler's as well. I am not at all happy about the direction GM is currently on. I see no reason why they can't drop the Northstar all together and just have the STS be significantly upgraded on the interior. Also give the V6 some turbos for greater power and you've got a pretty damn nice car. They can make things like magnaride standard and all that. Can the DTS and just keep the STS, but update the interior and lightly modify the powertrain. Why not? That's probably not even an option for them. pffft

Re: Meet Your 2010 Cadillac Lineup

I asked a GM/Cadillac guy at the 2008 Detroit auto show that very same question. He said the wagon is taking all the energy at that moment. The coupe was not even on the Cadillac stand that year. It was downstairs in the Michelin Design studio with the original 1952 Cadillac LeMans show car.

Kind of confused . The 2008 Detroit Auto Show was where the Coupe Concept was first shown , and it won the Best design award for Concepts .

The new Cadillac line-up does look magnificent. Outside of the DTS I am completely enamored with them all, and I will hardly nitpick with a the direction of Air Vents in the SRX, when they are clearly done in a manner that accentuates the flowing lines of the dash.

I will ask why it is that when the STS was redesigned or rather updated, Cadillac did not elongate, and bolster the car in manner that would have given them an S-Class sized vehicle that would displace the DTS. With the interior design of the CTS, the materials of the Escalade Platinum, and engine upgrades via Direct-Injected Northstar,or even better Direct-Injected LS with the Eaton Supercharger, Cadillac, with proper marketing, could essentially steal the S-Classes customer's away much in the same way that the CTS has stolen customers away from the 5series, or Escalade stole customer's from the Navigator.

Cadillac's heritage is as great and long as Mercedes'. Lacking the product to compete in certain necessary segments is what holds them back more than anything else. The same buyers that would an E-class or 5series, buys a CTS or STS. The S-Class has no rival from Cadillac because Cadillac does not make a rival.

The STS is still a nice vehicle. Its beyond me why GM didn't give it the Chinese SLS interior or a new interior. Just think an STS V with a CTS or SLS dash would be a gracefully aging vehicle. I would take the CTS, stretch it out a foot or two and call it the STS. I would maybe make changes with the dash or grille to distinguish it from the CTS. The vehicle should also get a 400 hp DOHC V8, perhaps a DI Northstar.

STS is a nice vehicle. It just falls short in too many places when compared to the cars of its class. It baffles me why Cadillac pulled the plug on the SLS interior for the STS. I mean, photos of the new interior were making the rounds in the media already. And for me that was the final straw.

The SLS is already much longer than the CTS. The reason we were given for the SLS not making it to the US was safety reasons. But the problem really wasn't length but width.

Re: Meet Your 2010 Cadillac Lineup

yes the sts does look out of place but having owned both 09 cts and 06 sts .....i ,in my opinion like the sts better...maybe not so in the styling department,as the cts has been upgraded while the sts is in limbo, for several reasons......but several friends have seen the mock up for the new sts and have said it is very nice ....hopefully in a short time it will resurface and continue cadillac going forward

Re: Meet Your 2010 Cadillac Lineup

I'm not going to hold my breath on that delmarjohn. I hope they will as well, but it's not something I'm expecting. They needed world class product yesterday. The only hopeful thing about them getting rid of those brands, is that now they can put the resources into building better Cadillacs. Whether they will or not remains to be seen but I don't have much hope given the info we have.
