Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
For all the hubub about the CTS and STS, it is the Deville/DTS that is by far the biggest selling Cadillac.
This is the most important car they make. I don't think they have to make it RWD. However, I think they could vastly improve the luxury look by reversing the transaxle so that the engine sits behind the rear axle instead of in front of it. You still get the FWD traction and efficiency and it would have the regal long hood look of a $50K car. |

August 2005: CTS - 3,610 STS/Seville - 2,820 DTS/DeVille - 6,081 Escalade line - 4,395 ------------------- YTD 2005: CTS - 43,056 STS/Seville - 24,467 DTS/DeVille - 41,067 Escalade line - 38,012 It would appear that Cadillac smartly puts its eggs in several baskets rather than like in the past when it relied more heavily on one vehicle. |

Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
Nice review!
If I order the front bench seat on the Luxury III version, does each 40% side still have the 4-way massaging lumbar support and the cooling and heating? Last edited by FStephenMasek : 09-14-2005 at 06:45 PM. |

Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
Have you seen a DTS compare.. VS an S class and LS…
It goes well until you see 4 Speed and FWD…the rest becomes history |

Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
My point must not have been clear. A 4-spoke wheel is fine but the current implementation looks like a 1980's version. The controls look they were added as an after thought and hence look cheap.
The Euro's and Asian manufacturer's would never allow them to be placed outside the air bag fascia. Even the new Hyundai and Kia models have them embedded in the steering wheel. I've sat in the GM cars and it looks cheap and like a cost cutting maneuver. IMHO. |

No one denies that the DTS competes with the Town Car. The DTS benchmarks the S and especially the LS because they are the big, soft, luxury cars out there, and that's what the DTS is. For 15-30 grand less you have to live with fewer options.

Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
it's RESKINED of coz... i am MORE CONCERNED on performance figure
4600cc V8 is ok, but mating with 4-speed auto (SANS TIPTRONIC) is totally a NO-NO; it cannot compete with others like Lexus LS, Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-series...etc. with that mixture! and besides, since Cadillac is more towards luxury-sports-sedan sector... DTS places NOWHERE in it... for example: CTS vs. 3-series, C-class, A4 (OK!) STS vs. 5-series, E-class, A6 (OK!) DTS vs. 7-series, S-class, A8 (uh-oh!) Do something with the next generation DTS even tho borrow a Holden Statesman is necessary ><" |

Re: GMI Reviews: 2006 Cadillac DTS
well the dts is priced much lower than all three of those euro's, turbo. and given the mercedes quality issues........
mr. g, is the dts' sound system a true 5.1 surround? if you put a surround sound CD in the player would it reproduce in true 5.1? |
