Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

They may not have minded coming second the the CTS-V.

But someone probably had it dawn on them that one Make was going to come last to all the others.... and it could be them.

So what gives? There's something else behind this move.

But if it's simply because they didn't want to get shown up by the CTS-V, I'd be really disappointed. Because, anyone with eyes can see that the match up -- every match up -- would favor CTS-V.
You would think that this car being tuned on the ring that it would be able to handle 5 laps on this track....... though its perfectly possible that this track is harder on brakes then the ring.

And lets be honest, cars like the XFR while it has a lot of go fast parts is still a production car and they really are not made to do serious track work (with very few exceptions). After all how many XFR owners will even take these cars to the tracks? if I had one I honestly wouldn't have taken it to the track. Ring tuned is more PR then anything else.

"Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time."

I doubt seriously that you could take most street cars regardless of whether they have Brembos or not and have no problems with the brakes after 5 laps. I would think the pads and brake fluid would need to be changed out prior to hot lapping.

My '06 GTO has stock PBRs and i slightly warped the rotors after only 5 miles on the Tail of the Dragon last May.

Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

So.... will the race Thursday even happen? All the pansy-ass competitors are dropping out, so the CTS-V wins by default.

"Cadillac CTS-V: The only sports sedan you can actually USE as a sports sedan."

Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

OK If I were driving in Formula One, Nascar, Lamans, ect. If I did not win tha race. Could I go to the officials after the race and explain to then my car was not as fast or handle as good as the winner, but my car is better. Would I be the winner?????? Sorry euro trash excuse..... How arrogant and condescending this guy is to make a stupid statement like that...

Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

Don't any of you think this was planned all along? Liability alone would keep most from taking up this challenge. And "Uncle Bob" goes away looking like the night in shining armor.
But I'm still going to be the fly in the ointment. I challenge, no I DARE some of you GMI editors to show up with a G8/GXP and MAKE "Uncle Bob" race the CTS-V against it. If the CTS-V is so much better, what is he afraid of in racing against it?? If the GXP gets beat, so what, its an orphan(thanks to GM).

Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

Not unexpected.... overrated Euros turn tail when someone calls them out.
Maybe some owners will willing to come get their whoopin', manufacturers "reputation" be damned...

I'd love to see that.... not because MB would have any trouble dispatching a GXP, but because it might take out some of the pretenders.

Re: First Mercedes, now Jaguar pulls out of Lutz CTS-V Challenge

And some said that MB ( Mr Lutz ) doesn't understand marketing .....

Sir William Lyons who also did - and much more than that is spinning away in his grave tonight.

Wow, sure is a quiet when all the marketing, spin, propaganda, & advertorials...... - along with those that believe their largely 'created' brand images that all that can buy get a real guy with a real car - and a real throw down.
