Re: Finally, Some Good News: Clarkson Gives CTS-V Favourable Review

I can't believe it. Check Clarkson for bolts, or panels, or electrodes....or SOMETHING.

I mean, I KNOW for a fact that Euro cars aren't superior as most Euros would like to believe...

I also know that the CTS stomps the crap out of German luxury cars, to such an extent that only a complete and utter buffoon, devoid of any intelligence whatsoever (or possibly so smugly nationalistic that his ears bleed when he hears the Star Spangled Banner) could deny it...

I just honestly believed Jeremy Clarkson was that buffoon.

Re: Finally, Some Good News: Clarkson Gives CTS-V Favourable Review

The BMW M5 is no doubt a nice car, but for me, way too much tech that takes you away from the primary purpose of the car.

In the CTS-V, sport or comfort? Press the button if you need to make a change and then go.

The M5 drive will be an hour behind you as they try to figure out what setting they need to be in.

Cadillac will love this review, Clarkson, for better or for worse is a harsh critic of the American cars, a review like this will do wonders for Cadillac in Europe.

Did he really drive it? It takes him a 20 paragraph introduction then to only write 9 parahraphs about the car.

Well your "facts" are pretty irrelevant here. Clarkson lampoons Aussies as well, but he really loved the HSV Holdens sent over to England rebadged as Vauxhalls VXR's

For one thing I should have said "from personal experience," not facts. Personal experience is just a opinion with extra backup, not actually a fact. So that was wrong, and I was wrong for saying it. Sorry.

The second is that I just meant that I'm not part of the group that sees everything Euro as superior. I really do like Alfas and Opel/Vauxhall. I way overstated it....almost like Clarkson. Except when I'm called out, I try not to be a douche, like he is in every review.

I just really really hate Clarkson.

I find it funny that you had to use " bolt" in your post

Re: Finally, Some Good News: Clarkson Gives CTS-V Favourable Review

England has no auto industry-Richards' Aston Martin really isn't an industry. They gave it up to the Americans, the Germans and even the Indians more recently.

Question to Clarkson: why do I care what you think about automobiles?

It's akin to asking a Jamaican to teach you how to ski. It's like asking France to fight a war. I think I'd rather have Putin teach me nation-building.

Perhaps Clarkson could stick with something more befitting his talents: British elocution, perhaps?

The American-engineered, American-designed, American-built Cadillac CTS-V is an awesome machine. And I don't need anyone to tell me that.

Re: Finally, Some Good News: Clarkson Gives CTS-V Favourable Review

Did anybody else notice that he properly referred to this in the M5 class like many other Journalists failed to do for the first half of it's life as just the CTS.

Other than that, I am sure that this will do wonders for Cadillac in Europe. At least I hope it will.

WOW!!! I can't believe what I just read! And that's coming from MR. Jeremy Clarkson himself! This is the first time I've ever seen him give an Domestic car a completely favorable review! He must of been in love with it or something. Seriously, I guess he was extremely pleased with the new Cadillac CTS-V. I can't wait to get inside of one or at least test drive one.

Re: Finally, Some Good News: Clarkson Gives CTS-V Favourable Review

Imagine the review if Caddy had gone all the way and had built it in RHD?

BTW - Just see what happens when GM actually builds a good car - it gets good reviews.
And also remember that Clarkson reviews the cars in Europe where drivers needs and wants are sometimes different to those in the US. ie. people still drink coffee in a cafe' rather than in the car on the way to work.

Be careful what you say - America might have no auto industry soon! What has this to do with his review? Because someone else can't run an auto industry in England - long before he arrrived on the scene, Clarkson can't review a car for his audience? Americans can't run it either, the way Ford is losing $millions a day and bailing on JLR.

His reveiws aren't for you - it should be obvious this is an irrelevant question. You don't like it when he writes a bad review, or a good review(?????) How does that work?

As distinct from nation-building, US-style in Iraq, where five years after it was bombed to pieces everyone needs an AK47 to scrounge for food and there are barely any of the pre-existing public utilities running?

It's unfortunate Americans can't understand the subtleties of English self-deprecating humour. I laugh at his jibes. That's how they are about everything - including themselves. Americans are 'have a nice day'. The English are 'I don't see why you should have a nice day when I know I'm going to have a rotten one".

No, but the prospective British buyers might! Which is who he writes for!

And American designed and made? Maybe for the most part. But Brembo is Italian, Recaro is German, the handstitched trim is European and the Michelins? The French maybe don't have the best recent track record on wars (although Americans didn't seem to find their assistance unwelcome in the War of Independence) I'm sure you agree the French know how to make a tyre!

Without those and quite a few other strategic components non-fabrique en USA it just might be a bit less of a car...........
