CTS is already localized for sale in Europe. What additional is left for CTS-V?
And don't even say it's because of low volume... because XLR-V is sold in Europe.

XLR-V happened before GM was getting criticized for every dime it was spending that didn't make a return. I am surprised they haven't dropped the Volt. Guess they atleast understand that is more important than stock price.

Re: European hunting season cancelled: Cadillac CTS-V not crossing Atlantic

My opinion on this subject is that they would rather wait for the CTW-V to intro a V-series of the CTS range in Europe!! The fact they aren't even sending the CTS-V to europe though gets me a bit concerned a CTW-V isn't even being considered. Hopefully though CTW-V is being considered specifically for Europe!!

Well... guess what GM... What do you think the CTS-V is supposed to be?
It's supposed to be for filthy rich people who don't get a damn about gas prices and want the best and fastest car out there.
Getting a CTS-V in Europe is the best way to make an impact.
Big, brash American V8 luxury sedan to run with the M5.

We know a RHD CTS-V is technically not possible because of the engine. But a LHD CTS-V should have no problem in Europe.

What's GM's stupid reason this time around?

Give it up Cadillac. You will NEVER be the standard of the world. You will NEVER make an impact in Europe. You will NEVER be more than a 2nd tier luxury brand.
Let's consider the reasons

Firstly the 120 g/km standard in EU. GM has to meet this. Now for Opel/Saab alone it is hard to meet. Does Cadillac/Corvette get lumped in with them or are they treated distinctly? EU is picky about this (see Porsche-VW dealings)

Second is production capacity. CTS-V sells pretty well in US/Canada. Is there a waiting list already in N.America to get one of these? If so it is stupid to "sell" cars in Europe when you can't actually build them.

So for now cadillac cts will offer 3 engine in europe...diesel and two v6. And they want to compete against german trio . Does GM even know what German companies are offering here?
German cars here?? Where??? If it wasn't invented by the General, it doesn't exist, so there ain't no stinking German cars here. No Asians either!! And that's the truth, as GM knows it!

Interestingly, a Dutch auto website says this info may be untrue:

Re: European hunting season cancelled: Cadillac CTS-V not crossing Atlantic

Exploder, I hope that Dutch site is right - Cadillac doesn't really need to make money on these, it needs a halo, even if it costs them some money and us some more expensive CTS-Vs

BTW - Here's a list of systems that are typically tested for type approval:

http://www.vca.gov.uk/vehicletype/car-image.asp

Here's the process this third party makes you go through. I'm not sure if GM works with someone like this or if they have their own export group (I'm guessing they do). Either way it sounds like the sort of thing that could keep a few people busy for a couple of months if they have to retest the engine, the brakes, the tires, frontal impact and pedestrian protection stuff. The front end is different, the weight is different - it may not be different enough to matter, but the EU isn't going to sign based on "it's close".

Lock & Load: CTS-V to go hunting in Europe after all

The above thread pretty much kills this thread. The CTS-V IS coming to Europe.
