Today Cadillac has released the first commercial for the 2014 ELR electric coupe. The commercial appears to be a fresh take on the brand's advertising, include a subtle dig at Europe with a reminder of what it means to be successful in America.
The ad outlines the hedonic meaning behind American success and mocks how other countries take a whole month off of August. While Europe is not specifically mentioned in the spot, as a general rule European nations have some of the longest government mandated vacation times. It essentially idolizes the American way to success and rattles off examples of famous people who exemplified what Cadillac is attempting to convey.
Towards the end of the ad, the new ELR is showcased - complete with being plugged into the ultra modern home depicted in the scene.
