Caddy's 3 series fighter shows up in intro video on GM.com

One of the most talked about programs going on inside GM right now is the "Alpha" platform car, a small, RWD platform that will underpin Cadillac's future entry level car, code named "ATS". Any mention of those three letters can cause such a stir around the board that it sends threads into the double digit page level in less than a few hours. The ATS program is still under construction, and has apparently encounterd a few problems, but that does not stop the massive rush of people clamouring for more info. So when keen-eyed GMI'er, Elvisuperman spotted this picture in a video that plays when you first visit www.GM.com, he was quick to screen capture it and posted it up on the board!

What we see here the basic chassis of what looks like to be a rear-wheel drive, four door sedan, and one that is currently not in production. The long dash-to-axle ratio, combined with what looks to be short overhangs in the front, a rakish C pillar, and heavy creases in the rear quarter panel has sparked interest in this thread. When paired next to a spy-shot of the ATS running around Milford Proving grounds, the similarities are beyond coincidental. When compared to other upcoming GM products, none are a closer match then that of the ATS. Great eye by Elvisuperman as well as Envoy4Life for comparing the spy pictures with the shot of the mystery car!

Very interesting. Judging by the chassis alone, this appears to be a very attractive design.

...notice the Malibu has a "round" gas cap door, while the 'other' car has a "square" gas cap door.

The Cadillac being pushed into the wind tunnel appears to be a small coupe.

My only question would be why would the FWD Malibu have a shorter front overhang than a RWD ATS. It sure doesn't look like it's because of the angle of the photo's making that much of a difference.

It's RWD and small, can't really be anything else but an ATS.

Looking at the earlier spy photos, I'm surprised how Vee'd the grille is (which is why the overhang looks so long). I think this car will be instantly recognizable as a Cadillac, unlike the first CTS.

I have a feeling that the camo on that vehicle is super deceptive.

I know we can't trust the lights, but do you think the grille/bumper could be fake? The CTS coupe shows they're not afraid to put pointy ends on their cars again. It doesn't look like this car will have much of a trunk lid or trunk.

Why is there a rectangular patch in the camo right behind the rear wheel? What could be there that they would need access to? Why expose the rear door put hide the front?

I noticed the XTS spy shots appear to have two different grilles, and none of the cars have the beautiful wheel opening flares of the concept, so I hope the lower door panels are false on it.
