Good for Cadillac! I also want to note that the only Non-American car brands I REMOTELY (If GM, Ford, and Chrysler fell off the face of the earth, lol) would consider buying are VW and Audi, so I'm glad that Audi is getting their name back out there.

The CTS should get a lot of converts to GM I hope.

Benz buyers are looking at CTS! My mother-in-law is on her third Mercedes, CKL and had the CTS at the top of her list. However, 2 of her friends both got one with in months of each other....in their social circle she didn't want the negative stigma of being the "third muskateer"

The point being, when I first met my wifes family a domestic car was no where near being considered. It has taken 7+ years for Mom to like an American car....she was just too late to the party. She ended up leasing another C Class. Hopefully GM keeps the product fresh so I can introduce Mom to her new CADILLAC in 30 months.

Yeah. Mercedes isn't exactly slouching.

The new C-Class is pretty nice. The new GLK-class is also coming out, and the new E-Class is right behind its tail.

Good for consumers.

Re: Audi, Cadillac most improved in terms of luxury brand perception

This is great news, considdering that these two are my favorite luxury marquees. Cadillac isnt out of the woods yet, but should have a sure footing in the luxury game if the DTS/STS replacement and the BRX go over well. I think that Cadillac is on the way forward, but being from a family of biased, anti-American car buyers, its going to need more than a single car to boost its image (no matter how great the car is :-) )

I can't wait to see what the new DTS/STS is going to be like. It better be something pretty special. Hopefully it can generate the same kind of excitement that the CTS has generated but further up the price scale.

This is good news.

This is the result of great work by the product teams who've helped make Cadillac a world class brand again. Kudos!

Re: Audi, Cadillac most improved in terms of luxury brand perception

I'm 17 years old and I love the 2008 Cadillac CTS DI. I really want one of those more than any other car out there. So, Cadillac is attracting younger consumers. If I had $46,000+ to spend on a car, I'd be skipping school tomorrow to run up to a dealer to get me one. The reason why I like those is because of the unique exterior styling (I recognize them from 200 yards away), gorgeously shaped interior that trumps the E-Class and ranks just above the 5-Series, a nice MPG and MPH balance, and it is $10,000 cheaper than the E350 and 535i. Acura and Lexus are much too bland for me. As for other Cadillacs; the BLS is too mundane and not available anyways, the STS is good looking yet has an interior that isn't as "hott" as the CTS, the SLS is only sold in China (Darn), the SRX is a mother's car that needs a redesign, the Escalade is gorgeous but I don't care much for 12 MPG, the DTS is leftover old-people stock, and the XLR is not as great as the Corvette. But I could "be seen" in any Cadillac minus the DTS.

So there you have it, a young man interested deeply in Cadillac. I even have a picture of me and a CTS on my MySpace.

Okay, then. In a few short years, (the last 7 or so), Cadillac manages to turn around its image to the point that many of the cars are "cool". So cool that a future generation of buyers wants to own them. This should be a point of study to all inside GM: it's the product, stupid!

GM should hone their focus in every division, (and that includes reducing the number of divisions if necessary), to a laser like precision, to the point that Chevy is not allowed to turn out a Cobalt with a noisy and harsh 4 banger under the hood and an interior that belongs in the previous generation Cavalier. And no more should Pontiac be allowed to badge engineer a G5 just because they need one to make sales, nor should Buick be allowed to market the bland and underwhelming Lacrosse, a car that is so disappointing that my 74 year old mother wouldn't be caught dead in it because it is an "old person's car!"

GM has a chance to very quickly change perceptions. I believe that most Americans want to buy American products if only our beloved GM would give them a reason to. Reasons like exceptional engineering wrapped in attractive and forward thinking products, (hint: CTS), can work wonders when used everytime, not just when their backs are to the wall.

I believe that GM has the ability, they only need to decide if they are going to be a car company second to none or an also ran. They have been an also ran for years and that didn't work, how about trying it the other way and see where that gets them?!

Same here, if I had that kind of money the CTS would be the car I would buy. Other cars in the same class are bland in comparison.
