Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

Will there be an available Hybrid Green neon package for underneath the vehicle? Because I don't want people to think I'm some kind of tree hugger.

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

I like it, with the exception of seeing what is essentially a Chevy steering wheel in it. The last I heard the hybrid decals were OPTIONAL - meaning you don't have to put them on (but I guess no one wants to hear that since it gives everyone something to complain about).

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

These are the things that make me hope that none of the people that decided to gaudy the hell out of this car work on the Camaro.

GM couldnt market themselves out of a wet paper bag.
Fender vent: stupid
Graphix : is this the 1980's?

Why not do something different? How about making all the chrome accents on the car have a green tint? Call it Emerald Chrome only available on Escalade Emerald edition. (name stolen from Mgescuro)
How about green led's in the fender vents that just light the vents up when the hyrbid system is active?
Wheels need to be different too btw. Should totaly different so people know its a hyrbid.
Those LED headlights should be standard across all Escalades. Tail lights should also incorperate light tubes, but thats another story...

Stupid cartoon HYBRID badge in the vents look stupid....ugh. I hate GM sometimes.

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

Unfortunately it only has a 5700 lb towing capacity in AWD.

I had my hopes up after seeing the 8000 lb tow rating for the Escalade Hybrid in the 2009 GM Car and Truck Fleet Guide (obviously a misprint!) as I thought this could be the hybrid for me with a decent towing ability.

With 8000 lbs tow capacity I could pull 6000 lbs of boat and trailer plus have enough GVWR for passengers and gear.

Oh well - maybe diesel!

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

saw one at Milford a long time ago and it was on Hybrid logo overload back then even. At least they decided to drop the Hybrid logo that went along the entire length of the rear lift glass like it did on the tester i saw. Still is it really necessary to have a grand total of 9 hybrid badges on a vehicle like this. One or two would have been enough but marketing is on the right track. Rich insecure people like to show off and brag about there rides to the rest of us and what better way to satisfy their over inflated egos then to put hybrid logos all over it because after all being green seems to be the newest fad among celebrities right now

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

Escalade Hybrid is an exercise of "Let's find a blank spot on the car's body and stamp HYBRID on it."

Hybrid here.... Hybrid there.... Hybrid everywhere.

It is completely without class and distinction, and it is UNWORTHY of a Cadillac.
The Hybrid plates are tacky and cartoony.

It does NOT belong on a supposed top tier luxury car brand.
OH yeah... that's right... GM is treating Cadillac like a subbrand, so the tackiness is OK.

Well screw that GM.

Making a Cadillac Hyrbid is a great idea. Stamping it with the ugliest, tackiest, classless Hybrid badges proves design aesthetics and style have left Detroit long ago.

CAn you image Hybrid stickers on a future CTS or Fleetwood or SRX?

SNAP OUT OF IT GM!!!

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

I was beginning to believe that cheesy, tacky design was a thing of the past at GM. But it appears there is still a department cranking out outlandish, goofy and over the top design elements there . . . and on an Escalade no less!! Ugh.

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

Why doesn't GM put the lighter tailgate, seats ,etc. in the non Hybrids to slightly boost the mileage of those vehicles, then lower them and inch or so to get a smaller frontal area?
i'm sure hwy mileage would go up 1mpg to equal the Hybrid's hwy mileage.

........but then people would stop buying the Hybrids.........Nevermind.

Those of you harping about the bling / graphics are not the majority of the Cadillac demographic who buys Cadillac.... ESPECIALLY for the in-your-face appearance stuff. These types will let the vehicle sit in the driveway for a month instead of the garage just to make sure the neighbors see the badging. You don't put out all that extra cash for a sleeper.

Well its only you then! Too much is going on, just put it on the rear and thats it! Why do you need it in the side vents and then HYBRID spelled out on the lower portion of the door? Thats a little over kill..

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

So, it's EXACTLY the same hybrid system as what's in the Tahoe/Yukon and it took them an extra year to get it out? WTF? I was expecting them to keep the 6.2L and mate it with the 2-mode. Weak.

duhhhh because going from a regular Escalade to the Hybrid saves more gas than going from the regular Camry to the Hybrid Camry. ( end sarcasm) Thats what people will say to defend the 2 mode 900's.

I guess GM didn't factor in the SLIGHT sales difference they would have seen with a $20-$30k hybrid vs. $50k+ hybrid.

Re: 7.14.08: Meet 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid

There's a fellow here in Colorado Springs who drives an Accord hybrid. He had huge decals made for the bumpers reading "Hybrid." Honda didn't supply enough identification.
In Boulder, Colorado's redoubt for those displaced from Marin County, the fish kissers all drive Prii. While the situation has changed recently, for a long time the Toy dealers were hip deep in Camry hybrids. The odd looking Prius was a smash hit, however, because of its exterior looks.
The purpose of the hybrid is not to save gas. It is not to save Bambi. The purpose of the hybrid is to show your neighbors that you care about saving the Earth.
These are the new Druids, worshippers of rocks and trees. If you are not one of them, it is difficult to understand their zeal.
The hybrid makes a statement about the owner, just as "ricers" with coffee can exhausts, low riders, and high boy roadsters do.
Thus, I say keep the garish hybrid references. The chablis sippers will understand.
Cheers,
Ed Arcuri
