Re: 2009 XLR and XLR-V

I still don't like the side vents. At least, GM could have used the same side vents of the CTS.

Great lookiing car..but it is underpowered against competition. Couldn't GM raise power of v version to at least 500 hp?

at 440 hp, the XLR V has more horses than a regular corvette

Re: 2009 XLR and XLR-V

I find the XLR to be as good looking as the SLs and Lexus. I'm not sure it has the interior of the the SL or the relaiability of the Lexus.

And if rumors are correct it cost close to what ZR1 will cost(which has almost 200 hp more). And since this is top model(v series is top cadillac models) it would be correct to compare it to other top models ..like mercedes AMG and BMW M.

I agree... this car is AWESOME... but simply has a weak engine compared to the competition. When it came out the XLR with the 320HP NS was competitive, but not by much... now it is simply BEAT by the SL, which ranges from 382HP to 604HP... ENGINE power than GM has but will not give to the Cadillac brand except for the Vseries CTS. Bottom line is that the XLR should have the same amount of power as the Vseries (443HP or more) in the regular version and at least the same amount of power as the CTS-V in the XLR-V and STS-V. It simply makes no sense that they will not give these cars the LS engine range when the LS range is as smooth as any Benz/BMW engine.

Some one like Mcsgero will say that the LS engine is not smooth or quiet enuff.... but I am will to bet that they have only driven the LS in Trucks or Vettes... which all have larger or more aggressive exhausts. Like I've said time and time again like a BROKEN RECORD... drive a G8 GT and U will see a SMOOTH, QUIET, POWERFUL LS configuration that is worthy of Cadillac let alone a Pontiac

Re: 2009 XLR and XLR-V

It would be nice if the CTS-V got the ZR-1's 620hp engine so that it can be considered a 'fancier Corvette'.

GM has failed the XLR.
Wow thanks Mr. Optimistic! The XLR will only die if Mercedes stops making the SL500 and BMW stops planning the new Z9.

I agree... F for not redoing the interior
Exterior upgrades, a C-... at least the XLR-V doesn't look too bad but please remove the stupid side vent!

To drop the XLR simply proves that GM doesn't know how, or more realistically - doesn't care, to compete in the big money luxury segment.

I agree. The architecture is there, the volume capability is there, I don't understand why GM wouldn't continue with the XLR. The car just needs to be BETTER. GM needs to forget the "Corvette pwnz all" rule, and let the XLR loose! It needs to be the most dramatic, most luxurious, most powerful car GM can make. That's is so exciting, yet GM seems bored with the idea. How depressing.

The Lexus looks like an upside down bathtub.

I love the interior, but I was hoping for more on the exterior.

People that believe pushrod V-8s aren't as smooth as DOHC are crazy. Find a late '60s or early '70s low mileage big block Buick or Cadillac full size sedan that has been well preserved and drive it. Power delivery comes on strong at low RPM and if it's well tuned you will barely hear it and feel no vibration/resonance.
