08' CTS Wins MT Car of the Year Award!

Malibu and CTS getting praised; 08' CTS takes MT Car of the Year!

News flash to automakers in Japan and Germany: The eagle has landed. Again.

If you were one of those who wrote off General Motors as a dying dinosaur -- after all, it's been a decade since any GM car took home the Golden Calipers (the Chevrolet Corvette won back in 1998) -- prepare to rewrite everything you think you know about what's in the General's store. With this bold, savvy, uncompromising showpiece of a sedan -- the all-new Cadillac CTS -- GM has leapt straight from the rabble's side of the velvet rope into that coveted, highly selective inner sanctum marked "World's Finest Cars." For that remarkable achievement, and for making us grin like lottery winners every time we drove it, the CTS is our enthusiastic choice for Motor Trend's 2008 Car of the Year.

Read on to see how Cadillac -- winner of the first Motor Trend Car of the Year award nearly six decades ago -- earned the Golden Calipers for 2008. While you're at it, start practicing using the words "General Motors" and "celebrated" in the same sentence.

Head over to our Reviews Section to see all the praise the Malibu has been garnering as well!

Check your headline. I don't think GMI won COTY. GM did.

Awesome. Way to go Cadillac & GM. What were the competitors? I couldn't find a list.

Re: 08' CTS Wins MT Car of the Year Award!

No surprise really. I thought the Malibu would have a tough time with a fresh Accord out the box.

Now the CTS is almost creating it's own segment (5 Series size, 3 Series price) like the G35.

And the CTS is a stunner to boot. I started up one at the local dealer-- sounded REALLY nice-- looked like a supermodel-- felt like a million bucks.

No surprise. Really.

Awesome! I really can't wait to take a closer look at the CTS - all this postive press is amazing!!!

Wow, first GM win since 1998 (Chevrolet Corvette)...

Re: 08' CTS Wins MT Car of the Year Award!

The worm is starting to turn. Look out Toyota and Honda. All you have done is awaken a sleeping giant.

So I guess Cadillac is "the Standard of the World" once again ? Good. Because that's the way it's supposed to be...
