    Next gen Camaro Powertrains!

With the next generation Camaro to be based on the ATS's platform it should be lighter and a bit smaller. With hope for that and both existing and upcoming engines both factual and rumored this is something I have come up with regarding the engines for this future Camaro!

    Base and RS.
    2.0L Turbo DI I4 270HP 295FT,LB of Torque.
    6 speed Manual & 8 speed Automatic.

    Optional Base and RS.
    3.0L Turbo DI V6 350HP 355FT,LB of Torque.
    6 speed Manual & 8 speed Automatic.

    SS.
    6.2L NG OHV SB V8 450HP 440FT,LB of Torque.
    6 speed Manual & 8 speed Auto.

    Z28.
    5.3L NG DOHC 4VPC Premium SB V8 475+HP 430FT.LB of Torque.
    6 speed Manual.

With hope for a DOHC 4VPC headed premium version of the next gen SB V8 for use in Cadillac and Denali GMC models this proposed high revving Z28 using the lower end of the next generation 5.3L small block V8 would be unique for Chevrolet and the Z28 model. I would hope for 4.0L and 5.0L DI Turbo version's to be used in the future Cadillac lineup along with a Turbo DI 3.0L V6. Then GMC could use a truck tuned non turbo 6.2L DOHC V8 for the Denali trim models.

Doubt we will see any V8 DOHC gasoline engine coming from GM in future. And,if it comes, I hope the power number would be closer to 500 + hp... since it would be 4v DOHC high rev engine, stuff like 95+ hp/l shouldn't be a problem.
What about ZL1? 6.2 with forced induction or 5.3 l DOHC V8 with forced induction?

I love threads like this. It's interesting to talk about future product powertrains - especially Camaro.

Here's the latest I have for you guys. So far, there are two engines approved. The 2.0T, possibly with standard eAssist and the 6.2L Gen V LT1 smallblock. Both will be available with 6 speed manuals or 8 speed autos.
Pony Car: an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance-oriented image and an available V8.

I would love to have a DOHC V8. 2.0T motor should have eAssist as an option not standard.

Have you bought yourself a current Generation Camaro? If not why?

Thats why I put the little + next to the 475! It was a low # so as to get reactions ! For a new ZL1 I would use a DOHC 4VPC 6.2L DI Turbo V8 with 600+HP! Being they would be using Turbo DI Tech on the Cadillac 4.0L and 5.0L V8's it would be easy to do a 6.2L Turbo. And for the next gen ZR1 they could do a like engine!

So I was partly correct then? If they do a V6 as an opt I would hope it is not the NA 3.6L V6. With the 270HP 2.0T putting out so much torque an opt V6 should be the upcoming 3.0L Turbo V6 that should both replace and share itself with Camaro and Cadillac! No mid-range V6 would be interesting though between the 2.0T and the V8!

I'd like to see the 2.5 eAssist as standard, and also have a genV V6 of around 4.3 liters and the 5.3 also offered in the Camaro, as well as in the "SS" sedan that supposedly is still coming.

If they were to put a 5.3L in the 6th Gen, I would rather it be the same bore and stroke as the COPO Camaro instead of the small-bore truck engine.

I'm interested in seeing how the 2.0L turbo motor would work out with eAssist. Wouldn't that combo require the automatic transmission?

If they put the new 2.0T in the Camaro I would not be disappointed. If it is based off the ATS platform in weight, it will be fast enough. But the 2.0T and V6 are the absolute slowest allowed. If they drop a N/A 4cyl in the Camaro it will no longer be a Camaro -_-

eAssist on a Camaro? Why? Is that an oxymoron? Camaro buyers want pure speed and no relation whatsoever to a hybrid drivetrain.

Nice! So, I take it that GM is implementing eAssist on RWD platforms now?

I still wonder why it isn't available on ATS.
