Instead of T-tops, how about a glass top?

If its true that the 6th gen is going to have some 2nd gen styling cues, and since there are some people that don't think that its a Camaro unless it has T-tops. Then how about a glass top? Similar to what Ford currently offers on the Mustang, but with a dark center stripe to simulate T-tops?

GM already has experience with these kinds of roofs on Opel and Vauxhalls in Europe. Traditional T-tops, although cool, would really be a compromise with todays increasing concerns about impact worthiness, not to mention where to store them.

    Any thoughts?

It's an interesting idea though I think the center stripe would only be of use if it was a physical overhead console (maybe then with separate pull-out shades for driver and passenger).

Though I think it's a cool option, I'm always split when I think about the Mustang's glass roof panel. On one hand I feel like it's expensive (at about $2k) for glass that doesn't open; on the other hand, it's a much more substantial upgrade than a sunroof since the whole roof is glass and it has to be structurally sound.

Remember you need to also have something to run power to the rear view mirror for the obligatory auto dimmer mirror and of course ye olde OnStar. Which works great with the stripe for the simulated T-top.

I think a glass roof would be a good idea...I'm onboard.

One-piece body colored pop out/off sunroof, storeable in the trunk?

Sort of like the transparent and body color targa tops that come on the Vettes?

Like the Solstice coupe? Except you could actually store this one in a trunk? Sounds good.

Why not just make the whole car like the Solstice, but with better build quality, a more potent turbo-4, and a 3200 pound curb weight. Then I wouldn't care what kind of top it had!

Unfortunately, glass conducts heat, which is why I've never seen a glass-roof Mustang where I live. Most won't even order a sunroof. We use 40% tint and try to stay out of the sun here in the sunbelt. I know, it seems strange to you pasty easterners who always want to cover yourselves in oil and baste in the sun every chance you get.

This is what I'm thinking of, except with a black stripe down the middle for the electronics.
