    AWD 6th Gen Camaro?

Is there any possibility of an AWD 6th Gen Camaro? I want one but can only get it if an AWD variant is available because of snow in my area. I know people always complain about weight and cost but I don't mind as long as I can get the car. Any possibilities?

If you want an AWD Camaro. Wait until someone wrecks an AWD ATS (buy the parts) and buy a Camaro then fabricate the AWD system into the Camaro. They are on the same platform so it shouldn't be that much of a pain.

They make an AWD Charger. You could put a bowtie on that and see if that does anything for ya.

Such a shame because an AWD Camaro actually makes sense

Welcome to the site. You'll probably need to look for an alternative - such as the AWD optioned Cadillac ATS which will share most of its components (powertrains, chassis, etc) with Camaro.

Best advice. One would be surprised what their vehicles are capable of when riding on proper tires. How else do you think MB & BMW drivers deal with the winter? Not all of them are 4Matics or X-drive.

Ok, I'm on a bit of a rant, but this just has me thinking -- the automotive marketers have done quite a swell job in convincing people they must have AWD for the winter. How in the world did anyone ever survive driving in the first 3/4's of the 20th century? This isn't meant as an insult, but just something to take into consideration. Afterall, AWD isn't going to help you stop any faster -- it just helps get you moving.

The non-X Drive BMWs and Jaguars spend their time spinning their wheels after turns I've seen this multiple times.

I'm another one on the AWD bandwagon, but this is from personal experience. I had a rental Charger, RWD only, during some snow. 90% of driving was fine, but I couldn't get in and out of my damn garage. I live in the city, the garage is in an alley with curbs/lips on either side, you need to get the car up on those to come in/back out, and it just wasn't happening. The ridges were too high, and the rear wheels just spun, without being able to push the car up. Snow tires might have helped, but I'm still skeptical. This degree of uncertainty is too much for me.

I don't understand why everyone has to get their panties in a bunch over this. It's an option, you don't have to get it if you don't want to. And, the platform supports it already.

I promise you, and I'm saying this as a "friend," you would notice a significant difference with the snow tires. You'd also have better handling at speeds and when coming to a stop. This is something that AWD will not provide you. Further, the cost of 4 snow tires is going to be less than paying for the optional AWD -- and you'll get better gas mileage to boot. Even further, how often do you actually feel you "need" your AWD. While I've never experienced a Chicago snow, I'm sure it's not in a continuous deep-freeze

I leave the TrailBlazer in 2wd all the time with the Michelin all-terrains I have on it. The only time I put it in 4wd is when I want to "play."

AWD is better in adverse conditions but I'm a good enough driver that I won't pointlessly shell out dollars for an optional AWD system.

    Re: AWD 6th Gen Camaro?

I haven't heard awd for the new camaro.....would be cool but doubtful that GM will do this.

Cadillac ATS will be a four door sedan....possibly a coupe ....and other variants....the twin turbo V6 and awd are cadillac features..

Chevy will do the camaro turbo 4, V6, V8 and rwd..

Snow tires make rwd totally fine for daily use in my personal opinion.....although I believe most wives in snow country believe the song and dance that AWD is necessary....so as good husbands....awd becomes a necessity on many new car purchases..

    Happy wife ...happly life

    Camaro included.
