    5th gen vs 6th gen Z/28 poll.

Would it be better for GM to wait and create a Z/28 on the lighter, smaller, 6th gen arhitecture, or should they go ahead and develop a Z/28 on the current 5th gen architecture?

I vote wait. The 5G Camaro is too porky and it could end up being a waste. The ZL1 makes sense, a Z28 not as much. But maybe LAUNCH the 6G with a Z28 top model instead of waiting?!

Re: 5th gen vs 6th gen Z/28 poll.

I vote for now. I'm sick of GM product always being in the pipeline or in the distant future. They need product here now!!!

So what? Zeta is a little heavy. We should just give up on it, let it rot on the vine and wait for the next gen? Forget that crap. Thats old GM! The Camaro should be a symbol of new GM. If a product gets surpassed then improve it and take the lead again!

The 5th gen is here now and its awesome. Even with all its extra weight its only a 10th of a second or so slower than the much lighter Mustang. Not much is needed to overtake the Mustang. The handling may not be the best but it has much more potential than the dinosaur rear end of the Mustang that has already reached its peak. If GM can tune the Camaro's handling a little better then there will be nothing Ford can do about it.

All the parts are there for the Z28 to beat the Boss. All they have to do is decide to do it.

I think I might agree. I'd rather wait and have it be a smash hit, than get it sooner have it be compromised.

But, I'd want it soon after the 6th gen's release - not years later.

Pedders Camaros have obscene grip and handling capabilities. Surely GM could learn a thing or two from them. Who cares if any Z/28 is heavier than a Boss if it can out-handle it? As for the powertrain, put a real cam in the LS3. The LS7 is hand-built which makes it too expensive for Camaro use.

That's called milking it. Which is getting old where GM is concerned.

Another thing to consider is, if GM were to do a 5th gen Z/28 - we wouldn't get it now. We wouldn't even get it next year. Maybe we'd get it as a '14 or '15.

I guess maybe what it really comes down to is, would you rather have a '14 Zeta Z/28 or a '16 Alpha Z/28?

Why not both. If the C7 corvette motor is ready then why not?

Both works for me! As long as the final product delivers.

But I don't think that they're letting it rot on the vine. The Camaro of 12 is set to get the LFX engine, at some point the refreshed exterior and revised interior is due to come in, etc. I think the Camaro will remain fresh for what it is.

Some suspension revisions are coming too.

Are there any plans to offer an SS without the ghetto rims?

Was just reading something interesting on Motor Trend.

Here is a key quote that caught my eye.

Seems all 2012 Camaros are getting handling upgrades.
