Re: SLP Releases Info on G8 Firehawk

First, some facts....
In 1969 you could buy a 427 Camaro that cost the same as a base model Corvette. The ZL1 Camaro is now worth many many many times the value of the 350 Vette.
In 1992, you could get a Firebird Firehawk that cost the same as a Corvette. People like you guys all went "Holy Cow, who is going to buy a tacky Firebird when you could buy a Corvette instead?". Well, have you priced a used 1992 Corvette lately? Have you priced a 1992 Firehawk? The Firehawk has held its value MUCH better than the Vette. Also, pull into a car show in a 1992 Corvette and you are invisible. There is a guy in Dallas that owns a 1992 Firehawk with the competition package, and when he shows up, it is like Elvis just showed up! He has won best in show at several events I've seen him at. Very rare, incredibly well done car.

I can't believe you guys...This site is CLEARLY not a GM enthusiast site. Blue Oval News does not rip on Ford like you guys do. If SLP had just done like you suggested, then everyone (including me) would have been bitching about how lame it was because if was just a sticker job. This car has **500** horsepower. Hello!?!? Am I the only enthusiast alive? I agree, the fact that it only comes with an automatic makes it a no-go for me. I have not owned an automatic in almost 20 years now.

So, that gives you the chance to have one that is even more rare....Have it converted to a stick!

Re: SLP Releases Info on G8 Firehawk

We were also told at the Auto Show that there would only be 250 of the G8 Firehawk's made. I didn't notice that info on here.

Re: SLP Releases Info on G8 Firehawk

Nice car, but

1) too much money
2) looks too generic for the money
3) sacreligious to the "Firehawk" name plate

I'll pass.

Re: SLP Releases Info on G8 Firehawk

Too bad Pontiac can't build its own for about a $4000 premium.. The Cadillac CTS V series is a better choice for the money, and FAKE leather? Get the F outta here!

Besides.. they need to call it a BONNEVILLE

My only complaint is that the SLP G8 couldve been better off with the GXP trim. Nothing else and nothing more. Many people here are saying they rather buy the CTS V for that money, and most would. To me though, the GXP has 400 some odd HP. I could add what SLP added at a fraction of the cost and receive the same HP as a Firehawk. Either way it is a nice car, just in a way seems illogical but i guess to each his own.

The problem with your argument is that the CTS-V is a special edition itself. There will probably be only 5000 built during its entire run. When you consider that the CTS-V looks loads better than the Firehawk G8, and has more hp, you can understand our dismay.

If they took the GXP, added $10,000 worth of performance parts, you would probably be seeing a different reaction.

$50k isn't much more than a GT500....I bet the Firehawk is faster.

New GT500 with the upgraded 550hp should put down the same numbers.
