No wonder Saturn died, she's not nearly as hot as Susan D-whatever-y.

Is she really retiring, or was she just shown the door with the closing of the brand?

Re: Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak Retiring

I don't know a whole lot about her but the only encounter I had with her left me with a bad impression.

I was working at the Fairfax assembly plant when Aura production was starting. I remember asking her if a manual transmission would be available. She replied, "We offer a 6-speed with paddle shifters that will give you the experience of a manual transmission."

Yeah, right. Either PR BS or she has no passion for cars and doesn't understand the difference.

Re: Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak Retiring

Retire seems like too kind of a word for the head of a now defunct brand.

See ya! One less figure-head that really didn't have any power over the direction of their brand anyway to pay!

Who knows. I would hope GM offered to find her another position, but if my brand just got put down - and with all the hard work Jill put into Saturn in the last few years - I bet I'd be so fried, tired, and upset that I'd retire as well.

Thanks Jill and here's to what could have been....

At least she is leaving. They promoted Susan Debauchery to VP of Sales.

With all of the crap I'm sure she had to put up with to get a dime of R&D money for Saturn, I'm surprised she didn't leave long ago.

Re: Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak Retiring

I'm just sad about this. I drove past my Saturn dealer yesterday and EVERYTHING was gone. I had been serviced there about a week ago and it was obvious they were barely hanging on. One day they had about 15 used cars but only 2 new cars - the next day it looked like a ghost town.

I'm not going to bemoan GM putting down Saturn, because they ruined it a long time ago by going up market. But a lot of pontential was lost.

Car company is gone, what has she been doing at work recently?

Humm, no ones here. We're not making cars. Maybe I should retire....
