The Garmin is bluetooth, and makes my bluetooth cell phone hands free while in the car or near it. In addition to that, it currently holds a couple of THOUSAND MP3s that it plays through my car's audio system, while voicing its turn by turn instructions through same. Factory nav has been left in the dust long ago. |

Re: Review: Pontiac G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
lets not forget that the G8 GT also kicked the BMW 5 series to the curb, in every category. Or that the G8 GXP also does the same to the dodge charger SRT8.... come on Pontiac, ditch the torrent, pick up the GTO and the TRANS-AM, and we're good to go... so all all I got to say about this, is hell yea!

Re: Review: Pontiac G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
I'd buy the G8 f it had a sat nav, but also a TV, microwave, fridge and a sink! Seriously, if you like the car for its looks or performance then buy the friggin thing. SatNav? - who wants to be stuck with a unit that'll be old looking in 5 years time. I'm more than happy to buy the latest unit whenever I want - not be forced to use an obsolete unit that can't be changed or if needed. It would cost a week's wage to replace if it failed years later. The G8s are good cars going by the Commodores I've tested over here. The only things I should warn you about is that Holden has yet to get the electronics glich free, so expect the occasional intermitent fault or the need to have the car's operating software flash updated every now and then. Not good enough I know. I just think Holden tried too hard to be Hi Tech with the electronics, unlike Toyota or Mazda that keep to old fashioned but bullet proof systems.

And going by observation, many people want to be "stuck" with a factory navigation system. It's just another option that makes a car more attractive to people that need something more than, "It looks good," as a reason to purchase. I suppose you think automatic transmissions and CD players are superfluous, too. Also, now the Charger R/T has more power than the G8 GT, which I guess is good for bragging rights.

Re: Review: Pontiac G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
Point taken Buick61. What I was trying to get across was that I'm surprised that people won't buy the car because it does not come with a sat nav. For me (and most car enthusiasts as well) Sat Nav is not a deal breaker. Deal breaker issues should be more the following to one's personal choices. Safety, performance, size, appearance, cost, running costs, economy, etc. To not buy a car due to the missing sat nav is very shallow and unforgivable. If you want it, then buy it. If not, stop whining.

That may be higher than it should be? But as it stands right now we do not have any released prices. Also if we compare the G8 GT with the options that would come standard on a G8 GT then I think the price will not be an additional $7k. But that is my opinion as well. I am looking forward to the price release. |

Re: Review: Pontiac G8 GT vs Dodge Charger R/T
Here we are sometime later and the G8 is a sales bomb. The Charger meanwhile is not.
There's no market for the car as a Pontiac and the GXP will not only cost substantially more than the GT, but probably more than the brand itself can command. GTO part deux right here folks. |
