Pontiac Vibe Gets More Standard Features At A Lower Price

Source: General Motors

DETROIT - Pontiac today confirmed pricing for the 2009 Vibe will start at $15,895 when it arrives in dealer showrooms in February 2008.

Also returning to the Vibe family for the 2009 model year, an all-wheel drive model will start at $19,495 and the performance-oriented GT model will start at $19,895. All prices include a $585 destination and freight charge.

“Our goal with the new Vibe was to enhance its style and performance without sacrificing functionality and fuel economy,” said Craig Bierley, Pontiac marketing director. “Every Vibe model now comes with a bold new look, increased engine power and a host of standard safety features, but still gets up to 32 miles per gallon.”

The Vibe is powered by a 1.8-liter engine and five-speed manual transmission that can be upgraded to a 2.4-liter engine. Standard safety features include four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, six airbags and OnStar.

All-wheel drive and GT models come standard with the 158 hp 2.4-liter engine.

Customers can get a closer look at the 2009 Vibe at www.pontiac.com/2009vibe.

Wow - That's quite a bargain!

Almost a 6% price drop with quite a few options now made standard makes the drop close to 10%!

Realistic pricing = fewer incentives and better resale value. That's a good 'vibe' for the customer...

Not shabby at all given the utility and pretty good economy. Makes me curious what a 2009 Corolla & 2009 Matrix base price will be... IIRC for the original Vibe/Matrix, the Vibe started out a little bit more expensive?

It is easy for them to reduce the price, as it is a mild refresh of the current model.

Also interesting for comparison, the HHR base price is $16835 which includes a 149hp 2.2L ECOTEC that makes 21MPG city/30MPG highway. The HHR 2.4L makes 172hp and MPG 20/28 ($18525 using 1LT w/ 5-speed manual & 2.4L engine upgrade).

Wow, that is a great price! I can't wait to see it in person. I really liked the last gen. also. One of my top small car picks!

Good. The old Vibe was way too much.

Yes, on both accounts, Perian. Doesn't hurt the Division's image, either.

Re: Pontiac Vibe Gets More Standard Features At A Lower Price

I saw the new Vibe at the San Fran auto show and was very impressed with the commanding presence the new model puts forth. The designers obviously used the new G8 nose for inspiration but the new Vibe actually looks like it has a little attitude in it's design stance(much better then the new Matrix) The nearby outgoing model seemed almost feminine in comparison.

Re: Pontiac Vibe Gets More Standard Features At A Lower Price

They priced the first gen Vibe a little too high, and about $1,500 above the Matrix. And the typical GM rebate is...

But, actually, they rarely if ever put a substantial rebate on the Vibe.

I'll get full pricing into my database, for thorough comparisons, as soon as I get my hands on it. Has anyone seen options pricing anywhere?

That's one thing I like about the new vibe. Even though it does have a bloated look from some angles, it looks really aggressive. Especially from the front.

2.0 Ecotec DI Turbo AWD version and I might buy this little wagon, otherwise I don't see the thrill of these little things. To each his own, but it is a good deal either way you look at it.

I watched the Vibe unveil ("Vibeslam") on the Pontiac web site. Wow. It was so lame, it made me sad for the poor singers up there.

Re: Pontiac Vibe Gets More Standard Features At A Lower Price

Its not all new. Toyota is still using this updated Chasis for the Corolla. Look at the dimensions. Its the same little car. No Wonder Toyotaboy has soo much cash.
Even the powertrain is a rehash

To find out, just drive a current Cobalt back to back with a current corolla. You will be amazed how luxurious a Cobalt will feel, due to its superior chassis
