Pontiac G3 NOT coming to US...yet.

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/01/p...o-the-u-s-yet/

Quote:
Despite the fact that Canadian Pontiac dealers are already selling the new Pontiac G3 and that the U.S. EPA has certified the model for sale in the U.S., GM is not currently planning on bringing the model over the border.

Thank god. They shouldn't even be selling that in Canada.

Re: Pontiac G3 NOT coming to US...yet.

I don't see what the big deal is....in a way, I can see how it would be good to sell it.

Suppose someone wants a small car....can't decide between an Aveo, Vibe, Cobalt/G5, or a Yaris. If the g3 (aveo clone) is available at pontiac, they can test drive it back to back with the Vibe and G5 (kinda one stop shopping, minus the Yaris in my example.) Its not a big deal...but if it can help even a few customers and some may buy it...I don't get why it is such a big deal?

I like it, it looks better than the AVEO5, and I hate the G5 never came here in the sedan model.

It's a big deal because Pontiac is supposed to be a performance brand. The last thing they need is a 110 HP Daewoo sourced subcompact.

I think those hatch headlights work much better on a Pontiac, as well as the grille. Too bad the Chevy 5-door had to get a wacky look --- they could have kept the sedan front end which looks nice, IMO, and let Pontiac have this look.

That front end is horrible. It looks much better with the Aveo nose.

I think we can forget the "Pontiac is supposed to be a performance brand" bit. At the moment GM would be happy to sell anything to anyone, regardless of niche.

So, can I buy one in Canada and then re-register it in the US?

The G3 nose is definitely better looking than the Aveo5's is.
