Re: 2009 Pontiac G3 coming to the US

This is a cryin shame. Maybe it will actually sell better than the Aveo for people who can't stand that gaping mouth!

Why have pontiac??? why cant pontiac sell $20k cars that are fun to drive and that people want to buy. Nobody wants to go out there and say i want to buy g3. it is amazing car. lol. you know. But now imagine if pontiac had that chevy beat with 1.4l turbo. Do you think that people would complain about this car?
It's simple human nature that people will complain no matter what you offer them, especially in the US. Quite simply, BPG dealers need a cheap entry level model as soon as possible. Love it or hate it, the G3 quickly and affordably fills that void with very little financial risk. Pontiac already sells plenty of fun to drive vehicles in the $20-30k range that are loaded with value. I can't wait to test drive a Solstice GXP targa coupe.

Why do they need a cheap entry lever model as soon as possible? think about this. Buick should be upscale brand like lincoln. Pontiac is should be more upscale then chevy with fun to drive cars. Now why do they need cheap entry car? Is BPG a chevy store? if it is, Why have them? do you see why with decision like this gm is loosing billions? You are correct they need entry level car but not cheap, they do not need another aveo. They need a mini.

Re: 2009 Pontiac G3 coming to the US

Lets all just admit that BPG is just nothing more than rebadged Chevrolet (but better looking maybe) with Chevy trucks (GMC) with Buick duct taped on so the Chinese can say they drive American cars.

The only way it will be different is if in design/build Opels & Holdens for the US standards and build them in US/Can/Mex to put them in Pontiac or replace Pontiac with Saturn.

Because our wonderful, all knowing government has forced new increased CAFE standards upon us. They can't be ignored. I agree a Mini-like entry level Pontiac would be ideal, but the coffers are bare at GM so it just ain't gonna happen anytime soon.

Re: 2009 Pontiac G3 coming to the US

Being totally honest here, this is real good looking! Much better then the new Chevy Aveo. YES, it's a rebadge (BAD GM, BAD...go sit in the corner..LOL), but really....this little car looks like a small vibe, (not a bad thing). I'm assuming that 90% of the comments on this thread will be negative, so I'll be in the minority here and say...I like this little car.

True, i agree but why are coffer bare? is it because of stupid decision like this. No gm brand has good image. and if it has bad image how can they sell anything at MSRP. Is it because of decisions to put aveo as pontiac, cobalt as pontica and call it performance? this is why people laugh at gm and think they are a joke of a company. This is why GM coffers are bare. Management that can not manage one division wants more money to do the same thing again.

They could atleast make it the 3 door, so as not to have a blatant copy of the bowtie. Plus aren't 3 doors more sporty that 5? (I'm reaching)

Reminds me of the late 80s, early 90s Pontiac Lemans:

Wow... Another blatant rebadge. The more things change, the more they stay the same......

No really, Canada and Mexico can keep it. We can't accept the offer, it's just too much.
